HR MINI's Fall Colors Run is Halloween weekend, from Oct 28-30. We headquarter at the Highland Inn, in Monterey, VA. About 40 miles west of Staunton. Their website is http://www.highland-inn.com/ They only have 19 rooms and they've been booked for a while. There is a motel owned by the same people a block away, here is their website http://www.montvalleemotel.com/ Several of our members have stayed there as well.
We pretty much just sit around on the porch on Friday, by the way, the porch wraps around the front and there's a porch on both the 1st and 2nd floors. We have the run of the place, so no one else is there to complain.
We keep talking about a night time run, but as of the last two years, we haven't done that on Friday OR Saturday nights yet. Maybe this year.
Saturday, we'll head out sometime after 9 AM and head up to Elkins WV, for lunch at CJ Maggie's. Amazing sandwiches in a 100 year old building downtown. Then it's off to Seneca Rocks for a stop and we should end up back at the Inn around 4 PM in time for some relaxing before the special dinner Chef Lisa does for us. We also have some very scenic photo ops stops planned along the way.
Sunday, we'll head out around 9:30 and head south. Route 678 was such a hit last year, we had to incorporate that in a run this year too. Lunch will be at the Swinging Bridge Restaurant in beautiful Paint Bank, VA. After lunch we'll head back North and end up on I 64 east of Covington and depart for home. If time permits, we may have an after run-run on some other roads as we head for home.
