MINI Cooper Autocross Sniper School2
 
MCASS2 is a MINI specific driving school whose goal is to give each student sniper a better understanding of how to autocross and how to better handle their MINI.     
Our Motto.... "One Run, No Cones"
 
When: July 12th, 2008
 
Time: 9am - 5pm   Tech will open at 8am
 
Where: ACU-4 on Little Creek Amphibious Base. 
You MUST add your name to the Access List below to enter Little Creek Navy Base
 
Who: Open to any MINI/mini Cooper driver seeking instruction. 
(**Driver's under the age of 18, must have a parent or legal guardian with them**). 
 
Cost: $60 per person ~includes Lunch, a T-shirt and plenty of Seat Time
Waiting list drivers - DO NOT prepay.  Pay if/when a slot becomes available. Wait List Drivers Will Receive an XL T-shirt
 
Payment:  Online payment must be received within 5 days of registering. 
 
Cancellation Policy:  Full refunds are available up to July 1, after that you can receive a partial refund of $47, gotta pay for your t-shirt ya know! 
 
Number of students: This event is limited to 30 students with a 5 person waiting list.
There will be 2 Fifteen car groups.  While one group is driving, the other group will be working the course.  That means you'll be chasing cones, so be ready!! 
Drivers in the same car should sign up for different groups.
 
Group Breakdown:
# 1 - #15 is Group One
#16 - #30 is Group Two

Yes, you will need to have numbers on your car, tape is cool but I know what you're saying about the sticky residue.  You can get magnetic stuff at Michael's Arts & Craft but it's pretty thin.  You can order online at soloracer.com or locally check out Jeff Rooney on the TSCC Board.  He does great work!  Go with Jeff!!!   I'm looking into a few stickers grill badge thingys.   :066:

You're right Mike,  If you're already on the TSCC base acess list you should be on this one.  We are only going to turn 1 consolidated list for the MCASS2 and Sunday's autox.

With that said, please verify that you ARE ON the list.

Im signed up on the access list only.  With work they arent going to let me know if i can get the day off until Monday July 7th and that is if someone is able to do a day swap with me. So i'll come down if i can. I'll run if there is a spot open at the time. If not i can offer my car to be used if need be and i can spectate. While Heckling Lelane to go faster.

We are about 2 weeks out from MCASS2 and I thought there would have been more MINI/mini's signed up.  If we don't fill up the school with MINI/minis then we'll have to open it up to Tidewater Sports Car Club members.  Several have already voiced an interest in coming out. I don't mind doing that, I just want make sure that MINI owners get first shot!!   :023:  Please pass the word around, as not everyone is online 24/7.  So, if you know of a MINI/mini dude or dudette, call 'em, text 'em, tap on their window, just let 'em know to get registered in a hurry!   :038:

Where is everyone! So many people expressed an interest in this and now no one is signing up.

Sean has almost killed himself trying to juggle everything and make this work for the mini/MINI club.  :038: :038: If you don't sign up and come out and have the best fun you could have in your mini/MINI you will really regret it. So many people came out for the first MCASS that had never driven their cars like this and had a blast.

Have you ever driven your MINI on the off ramp and thought man I wonder if I could do this faster?  Well here is the place to learn how to handle your car. Come out and push your skills and see what you can really do in a controlled environment. If your scared then you really need to come out, this will help give you confidence in yourself and learn how to handle your car.

I can't express enough what a wonderful class this really is. It is worth every penny and then some. Plus the fact that you get to spend the day with the best bunch of people in the area.

So get up and sign up! You will not be sorry you did.

Don't tempt me. The ambulance has been on an autocross and a few road race tracks in its day. It's truly a sight to behold (that is if you can see through the tears in your eyes from laughing so hard).

Okay Snipers.......  I'm going to open MCASS2 up to the Tidewater Sports Car Club Members.  So far we have 12 MINI's registered and a few that still need to pay.   You can PayPal the $60 to  the.mcconnells@cox.net   or just PM me for different arrangements.  Lunch will be provided by Jason's Deli, just like last year and Dale Blankenship from Maaco will be providing drinks.  I do recommend that you bring chairs and sun screen and very comfortable shoes!

For all of our HRMINI members that have not signed up........  MCASS was designed for novices and nOObies in mind.  If you have NEVER autcrossed, this is the school for you.  Even if you don't want to autox, you'll want to do MCASS!  In this event you will be able to SAFELY explore what your MINI can really do. If you've ever felt an adrenalin rush on an on ramp....... well that's like riding a bike with training wheels.   :023:

Where:
This event is being held at ACU-4 on the Little Creek Amphibious Base in Norfolk, VA
From Shore Dr.:
Enter the base through Gate 3 (Next to the sewage treatment plant)
Continue on Helicopter Rd
Helicopter Rd turns into 11th Street at sharp left bend.
Continue on 11th Street to the ACU-4 Guard Shack.

You will need to show your driver?s license at both the gate and ACU-4 Guard Shack.

We are privileged guests while on base. Strictly obey all speed limits. Save the speed for the autocross course.

Ok everybody, don't forget that the speed limit on base, and the no cell phone while driving laws are heavily enforced.  :icon_exclaim:

I wish I could make it - I sure could use the instruction out there.  I think I'll still be able to make Sunday, unless my travel plans change (gotta go to the west coast Monday (or Sunday)).
