This is an amazing seafood buffet located in Kitty Hawk, NC.  They have over 100 items, including 10 different types of crab legs.  Click "Jimmy's Buffet" above for the menu.  They open at 2:30 on Sunday so we need to be at the door at no later than 2:15 so we can all sit together.  

As many of you remember, Ben put together a dinner to this restaurant a few years ago.  Everyone was extremely satisfied with the food.  It was soooo yummy!!

Kathy and Dave are in for this one. We plan to book a hotel room for that night, take off from work on the next day (Monday) and enjoy a little beach time. May stay and have an early dinner on the Monday evening before driving home.
Going to start searching for a room now. Anyone else interested in doing the same ?

OK, I'm not a big seafood fan.  Does the buffet have plenty of other items?  A trip down to the Outer Banks sounds really nice.

Have found a room for the night at a reasonable rate for this time of year. Travelers Oceanside Inn, 7218 S. Va. Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC. 27959.  $89.00 for the night plus a $5.99 service fee, and I'm sure taxes will be added to that as well. I sure hope that there are some nice non-seafood items on the menu, as I am allergic to most all seafood items.
Am I crazy or what  :102: Last dinner was at a seafood place, and I was there, next one is a much longer drive, and I'll be there too !  That said, my lovely wife LOVES seafood, so I make allowances to be sure she enjoys her meals when dining out. Looking forward to it, and hope plenty of people sign up to attend  :icon_biggrin:

Dave, are you highly allergic to seafood items?  I just had a thought...  If they deep fry non-seafood items where they have deep fried seafood items and you eat some of it, could you have an allergic reaction to it?  I'm not trying to be an alarmist, just looking out for ya.  :icon_mrgreen:

I'll have to check the schedule, but an OBX trip would be great! Add seafood and it's ll the better!

Thanks for your concern ! I am actually allergic to Iodine and most types ofshell fish have a large amount of Iodine in them.
I NEVER order any type of fried food in seafood restaurants just to be on the safe side. Chicken and Pasta always works, and some places actually can cook a pretty good steak. I'll be fine, and am looking forward to it !

Are we cruisin the strip? (What I consider 158/ Croatan Hwy) Or somewhere in particular....? Taking the Mini's on the beach is out of the question down there....unless somebody knows a good spot with packed sand and without the ruts...  :076:

we'll just be heading straight down 168 or else we'd have to leave earlier.

The MINI Cruiser will have to miss this event... that weekend my Heather will be recovering from her last surgery and it's Sophie's bday...... I'll be up to my armpits in cake and boobs!!

Now is that a complaint or just a statement - hopefully Sophie's cake will be child appropriate  :113:

Come on people !  Lets get some more members to sign up for this. It's a road trip, seafood is assured, beach, huge menu,
all great things !  All we need now is more members to commit to attending. Kathy and I will be spending the night down there and if the weather is nice will probably hit the beach for part of the next day, if not will more than likely end up at Kitty Hawk Kites. I LOVE kites. It can be a pricey hobby, but stunt kites are a ton of fun to fly !  You can bet I'll be taking my
Prism Nexus kite with me when we go down to the OBX !!

Plus there's an outlet mall right down the road we ladies can attack after our late lunch.  :023:

We went to Jimmy's a couple of years ago with the club - it was really really good! I highly recommend it! If we weren't going to be out of town, we'd be going for sure!

I am new here but would love to tag along if that suits. Just got my MCS last month and have put almost 5K miles on him in 44 days. I would relish a chance to run down to the outer banks and grab some seafood!

My MCS is pepper white with black roof, black s-lites and black sport stripes. I think he's sharp looking. Melloplayer comes from my aim screenname, i used to play the mellophone, or marching French horn, almost 10 years ago now.
My beautiful copilot will be at another one of our wedding showers. I'm not invited :-) i'll be there! It'll be my first MINI run! I may be alone but I am excited.

Tarheel MINI's had a OBX run planned but it fell through. I'll post something over there and see if any of them wanna cruise over and join up. They really are a hoot! We're doing part of the Blue Ridge Parkway Run next weekend with them.

What time do you plan on departing for the trip down? I'll lead a group over from the peninsula if need be.

Angela contacted me and asked it I would lead.  So we will all keep the original starting spot and organize from there.  I'll have the directions. But I warn ya'll I'm a chicken for a speeding ticket.  So if someone with a radar detector rather be the front runner... I have no issue following fast!

Dave and I will be spending Sunday night down at the beach and returning Monday, so someone else can lead home Sunday after dinner.

Happy to report Deb, Dario, Franklin and I will be attending in my soon to depart Avalon.  Yep, I'm sick of the huge luxury non-fun mobile and on the hunt for something more entertaining.  A clubman will be test driven soon, so who knows...  probably lease this time around no matter what.  We don't do the mileage, so that's a non-issue.  See everyone down there!  We'll be leaving earlier in the morning to enjoy stopping at farmers markets etc, and maybe some beach time before lunch!

I am keeping my Beagle at home. I only take her down when I can go on the beach with the Exploder. I don't like keeping her in the car waiting on hot summer days. Just keeping her blocked off to the kitchen and outside with the toddler gate, like I do when going to work.  :icon_neutral:

If you happen to not have a radio, don't let that stop you from coming.  Just follow the car in front of you.  If they pull over, you pull over etc.  We try to keep non-radio carriers in the middle of the group.

We went down to mile post 8 and met up with Sister In Law and her Husband who were down there in a time share. Headed back about 6:30. Did see a handful of VA's finest speaking with other motorists. We ran a comfortable 8-10 mph over. Glad ya only got a warning, musta been the cool car you were driving!

When we left the outlets, I think we were running about 15-25 over all the way back.  Gotta love Jeff's fuzzbuster.  LOL.  Got lucky that we didn't get pulled over.  All in all a great day!   :026: :026: :026:

Home safe and sound with no tickets or deer related injuries. Total mileage: just under 600. Bed time for me.

While you guys were playing tag with cops, Dave and I were walking the water's edge!  :052: We stayed an extra night and spent the entire day on the beach flying kites, reading, swimming (the water temp was perfect :icon_exclaim:) and napping in the cabana.  Had a picnic lunch packed for the day.  Ate at a BBQ place at the beach and made it home at dusk Monday night.  WONDERFUL!!   :016: :016: :016: :016: :016:

Just in case we decide to do another OBX run sometime in the future.......  Kathy and I decided to stay the night last Sunday after the club dinner at Jimmy's Buffet, and I found a room at the Travelers Oceanside Inn, which is right at the crossroads at Whalebone Junction for $89.00 plus tax per night. It is an old hotel, but has been completely renovated,
and is very clean and comfortable. The room we were  in had one full size bed plus a single bed, had a fridge, microwave, sink, oven/stove, coffee maker, ect.  They have a pool on the property and beach access is right across the street.
There is also an old style grocery store directly across the beach road from the hotel, so it is a nice place to visit for a short or overnight visit !!   We enjoyed our stay there and intend to go back there.
