Title: Hello from Texas
Post by: moe on October 26, 2009, 08:41:00 PM
We are driving to Chesapeake for the Christmas week holiday. We may drive our R55 and was wondering if the club had any activities in the work during the week of Christmas. We may consider moving closer to family and wanted to meet  some local MINI people :)  ajm

Hi Moe,

We don't have anything planned for the week of Christmas that I'm aware of yet.  That's not to say that some of the nuttier ones among us, and they know who they are, will mind an impromptu gathering for some ice cream.  Yes. Ice cream in December.  :106:  :017:  :icon_mrgreen:

I do see what you mean. We are just looking for a good reason to Not drive our normal 'All inter-State' driver SUV. I bet there is no Frozen Custard anywhere to be found at Christmas time:)

I do believe that The Skinny Dip (http://63.64.44.137//index.pacq) (best soft-serve frozen yogurt!) is opened year round.

We would get the best attendence evening or weekend afternoon.  What suits our Texas friends?  I will schedule something for Chesapeake or surrounding area and get it on the calendar .

Thanks for the special consideration.:) We were just hoping to sit in on what ever was going on while we are there.  We are staying / sleeping in Williamsburg, (12/21 - 26), but our family and grandchildren are in South Chesapeake, just off 17. We usually travel to Chesapeake for day time and early evening activities. Other that Christmas eve and Christmas morning we have no set plans. The only caveat with setting up an activity just for us is that if the trip weather looks horrible we would probably travel in our AWD SUV instead of our MINI Tex. We do know some of the area and Garmin can find the rest. A J & Elaine Miller

We all love people to sit in on activities, but are always looking for any good excuse to get together with good folk, good food (and yes I do believe ice cream and custard are foods), and fun cars.  Hope to be able to make a get together in dec.

I need some help my fine Chesapeak MINI friends.  I am not too familiar with the area.  Recommendations for a meeting spot.  Maybe some ice cream or hot chocolate?  Some space to park and a place to get in out of the cold?

There is a cold stone in Greenbrier.  There is also a Carvel ice cream shop at the corner of battlefield and etheridge manor.  etheridge manor is something else there but I can't think of the street name.  its across the Chesapeake Expressway from Harris Teeter though.  As far as hot cocoa, there is a cracker barrel down further right before the toll booths across the expressway from Home Depot.

Hi all, Tex and passengers made the trip and have seen a few Mini's around. The TimeShare does not have internet so we are not online much. We did enjoy the seasonal white stuff. Don't see much in Houston and we are not sure what it is called? It sure does make a mess on a PepperWhite. Hope all have a safe and joyful Christmas:)   ajm

It seems HR MINI has been a virtual ghost town this holiday season so far. Hopefully we can get a few members online and get an impromptu get together going.
