Title: Restaurants Post by: MisBehave on January 27, 2007, 09:17:28 PM We came back from eating here at Surf Rider Bluewater in Hampton.
http://www.surfridergroup.com/hampton.htm# I see they have Surf Riders in Va Beach. If you haven't eaten there before it's a great place to go. The 3 of us have different tastes and this was one of the rare places everybody left FULL and HAPPY. :P Title: Restaurants Post by: F15eWeapon on January 28, 2007, 01:37:59 AM Oh yeah... I love Surf Rider. They are all wonderful, although the Hampton Location is special since it's tucked away at the Marina there. It has more of a clubhouse ambiance about it.
So did you sticky this for a particular reason? Are you looking for everyones favorites in town? :D Title: Restaurants Post by: MisBehave on January 28, 2007, 09:00:05 AM Quote from: "F15eWeapon" So did you sticky this for a particular reason? Are you looking for everyones favorites in town? :D Well I thought that might be cool  We do not eat out as much as we used too. 1. It seems eating out has gotten real expensive. Food Tax I beleive. 2. We were eating at the same places all the time. 3. Surf Rider gave me the idea. It was new to us. Everyone enjoyed it. Ordered 6 meals - 3 deserts (not all for me) for $100.00 and the atmosphere was fantastic being at the Marina. Next time I like to go during the day. I think the secret is to have 5+ people to get the cool room looking out at the boats. :P You up for lunch sometime :D Title: Restaurants Post by: 1972Austin on January 28, 2007, 09:28:39 AM Mandy and I are always up for some lunch! Just name the date and time and we can schedule a nice lunch.

Title: Restaurants Post by: MNI LIMO on January 28, 2007, 07:29:27 PM The one in Ocean View is nice. It also sits on the water at a marina. Good location for everybody to get to.

Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: BartMack on March 01, 2008, 10:34:37 PM My ZUSHI review :027: (I zuppose this is the right place for it)
Zushi- a Japanese Sushi Restaurant in Towne Center VB I've been a major sushi fan since my Miami Beach days in the 90's... Positive: Went to the movies with a friend, Regal Columbus 12 is my favorite theater, not too crowded (like Lynnhaven is) or too high schoolish (like Greenbrier is) and is nearby for me.. parked for the movie and Zushi is a block and half away, very convenient walk atmosphere was upscale minimalist, polite and attentive service; we went about 6pm on a Saturday, it was largely empty but filled up in the hour we were there had 2 cocktails with dinner, but they cost as much as dinner did (they were quality at least!); had 2 sushi rolls, a small salad and an appetizer, was about $20 for food, but $40 bill b/c of drinks (for 1) THE SUSHI WAS EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!! Negative: I thought they need some better atmosphere music, or if they had it it was down too low, didn't notice it the chopsticks were round stainless steel, and I (not being a zen master) had difficulty with them, since there was no friction (they were kind of pointy and slick, I almost sent a tempura shrimp whizzing across the room :icon_eek: ) could be considered pricey, but then the m&ms at the movie were about the same price lol Overall: I liked it, it was upscale, calm, formatted, adult-oriented (and bargain-basement sushi isn't smart anyway) Probably not good for small children, but I did notice there were some families eating when we were leaving. I'll go back again I'm sure. :023: :023: :023: (( :101: it takes me maybe 10 minutes to write, and then 15 minutes to correct all my spelling errors lol, TG for teh :edit: button =)) Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: F15eWeapon on March 02, 2008, 12:24:34 AM I'll have to give Zushi a look..thanks for the review. My favorite sushi place bar none is MoMo's... I just take a seat, tell the chef to cook me 2 special rolls of his choice, and I usually get fed 4... prices are high, but my god.. amazing food. It's in the Kempsriver crossing shopping center to the right of Farm Fresh... tiny hole in the wall really, but aren't those always the best?
Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: BartMack on March 02, 2008, 01:01:07 AM hey that's actually about 1 mile away from me... I must check that out!!
(I usually don't go in that direction for whatever reason) Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: ODDKIN on March 02, 2008, 10:26:15 AM I go to the Surfrider in Hampton at least once a month, but I cheat and go by boat. It is always a great meal as well as a great cruise. So if the group goes to Surfrider Hampton, I may have to leave the MINI at home and use my alternative method of transport.
If you are looking for suggestions on other restaurants, Colleen and I ate at Aldo's last night. They are always rated in the Top Restaurants in the area. Steve Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: MisBehave on March 02, 2008, 11:27:05 AM Surfrider n Hampton YUM :icon_mrgreen:
Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: Lelane on March 02, 2008, 11:46:04 AM Aldos is nice but really pricy.
I have never been to Surfrider in Hampton but have been to the one in Norfolk on Newtown. The food there is really good. Bart Momo's is really good. I went there with Ben one night and really did like it and I am not much of a sushi person. There was one that I could not do but the rest were great! If I knew what they were I would go back and have them again. Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: littleonetasha on May 06, 2008, 07:25:45 PM For anyone who may be out in the Ghent area, Crackers off Granby is EXCELLENT for tapas (appetizers). It's all they do, and the bartender is also great. they don't open till 5 though, so lunch is out.
Try the Southern Mule, it's fantastic!!! :110: Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: F15eWeapon on May 06, 2008, 08:06:14 PM Crackers in Riverview? Right before the bridge? I've been wondering if that was any good... but I'm not out that way in the evening... just during the weekday.
Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: Warped on May 06, 2008, 09:13:38 PM Have any of you ever tried The Painted Lady on Granby St near Doumar's? They have an amazingly good eggs Benedict and the Pinappi (sp?) pie is incredible. Just the fumes from it would give ya a sugar high! :112:
Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: littleonetasha on May 08, 2008, 11:19:35 PM in regards to Crackers, i am not sure of "riverview", it's near the intersection of Granby and 42nd street. I think it's attached to a florist. Sorry, i've only been there at night, plus i'm still slightly new to the area there. but i know for sure they are only open after 5 PM. maybe for after work apertifs? the drinks are where it's at, i'm telling you. we got into a dicussion regarding gin based drinks with the bartender, and he poured us little tasted of all the top shelf gins he had on the house, so we would be better acquainted with them and see the difference.
^_^``` and the food wasn't too bad either! we went on cinco de mayo and they had themed all of thier specials around the holiday. what a treat! and NO WAIT! Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: BigRed33 on May 09, 2008, 10:44:33 AM Have any of you ever tried The Painted Lady on Granby St near Doumar's? Right around the corner is Charlies one of the best greasy spoons around amanda and i cant get enough! loved it check it out been there longer than granby i think! Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: Trish on May 09, 2008, 08:56:22 PM We're supposed to meet at Malibu Macs after the Strawberry Fest run........I LOVE that place...it has a surf decor to die for and tv's all around. The bar area looks like a Lifeguard station. We've never ever had bad service; the appetizers are impeccable! If yall don't make it for the 'fest....at least go sometime and try their food!

The Nachos there are the BEST!!!!! and for a 2/3 Vegetarian they are really awesome!!!! Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: Trish on May 17, 2008, 08:36:48 AM Red City Buffet.....this place is in the new Landstown Shopping Ctr off of Princess Anne Rd and Dam Neck; across from Farmers Market.
I give it one thumb up for service and 2 thumbs down for food quality. The place was clean, service very good but the food was nothing special at all. Same food you get at any other Chinese Buffet but this one advertises seafood. So, guess what? Buffet is double the price per person. Their seafood was not a good quality. Their shrimp, clams, crab legs..none of it had any taste. Look, even the dipping butter was bland-must be using unsalted. It made me miss Capt Georges in Pungo sooooo much. :022: So, in closing, I do not recommend this restaurant. Title: Re: Restaurants Post by: littleonetasha on May 22, 2008, 09:19:18 AM That's pretty sad. bad seafood not only tastes bad but is scary! :088: but with a name like "red city" for a chinese restaurant, it had to be in poor taste! :icon_rolleyes:
