Yep. Back left strut sheared off the retaining nut.Not happy.
Good news is TSW is honoring their warranty.
replacement strut it supposed to ship tomorrow. We'll see what happens.
At least it will get me to put the other springs on the struts.

ob,

here are the tires...  16x7  MOTEGI RACING SX7 Flat Black w/Mach Lip\

what do you think?

I like them and Motegi is good bang for the buck stuff. The downside is the only offset I can see, in a quick web look around, is +35. Running 225s you will get some rubbing on the outside. Shouldn't be too bad if you're not lowered but I can almost guarantee they'll rub some. The nice part is the tire will wear out exactly what needs to go icon_lol
If you're lowered I can't speak from experience but it'll obviously rub more. How much I can't say.

You'll love the 225s and that size(225-45x16) is pretty close to stock. Speedo will read high by 1.8%
Very close to the 205-50 16s I ran for a bit. An indicated 60mph will be close to an actual 56mph since most MINI speedos read fast anyway.

Pics will be a must

ok Everbody have decided on 225/45/16's on 16x7's and i need to know if i HAVE to have spacers and new lugs cause i would prefer not to have to do that
Need to know the wheel offset. Without that you can't/won't get an accurate answer.
If your car isn't lowered and you are running stock offsets it'll be damn close on the inside of the tire. If you go 5mm spacers you will then need to get 10mm longer bolts or studs( you may find 5mm one but I couldn't). You will then almost certainly rub on the outside of the tire slightly. Probably just under full load of gas, 2 people or more, and spirited cornering involved. Just in the rear. Yes get 4 spacers.

Wheel studs are nice but remember that'll force you to change wheel locks or do like I did and use 3 studs and 1 lock but good luck finding a lock bolt that is longer than stock spec.
34  Grease Pits / Wheels and Tires / Re: HELP on: March 21, 2008, 02:03:26 PM
Nope, easy task! Just make sure you get some good quality studs, or check into the longer lug bolts. Remember you have 14mm not 12mm like us Gen 1's. Good spacers are a must, make sure you spend the $ and get the ones that are drilled to your bolt pattern, 4x100mm, not the universal ones(they suck, hard to keep centered while tightening the lugs down)
Heres a great spacer, H&R, but these are for Gen 1 12mm, so youll need to find something like this but for 14mm

and don't get Palo Uber studs, there crap.
I put these on Frank
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=TWH9950 but again these are 12mm, somebody has to have 14mm
TSW has some good stuff, email Jeff and tell him what you have and he'll come up with what you need.

Oh yea, just wanted to mention we've got Mini envy!
Hope as is well, and looking forward to yall getting back to the states!

Is this a difficult task?

I run the ProMINI studs. No rust in over a year. he H&R spacers are great, running them too. You shouldn't need them for anything under 225 width on the stock offset.
Any machine shop worth 2¢ can punch out the holes in the spacers for about $20. Hell I could do it on a drill press. Of course the bit would run you $20  icon_lol
35  Grease Pits / Wheels and Tires / Re: HELP on: March 21, 2008, 01:48:30 PM
I've been running 215-50 16s for years. Very close to stock diameter. Just .1% taller than stock.
Your 215-55s would be too tall. The 205-55s would be closer to stock. Too large by just 1.8% in diameter.

Zero fitment issues using stock X-Lites(+48 ET), NZO wheels with stock offset and SSR Comps running +42 offset.

BF Goodrich Traction TAs. Never was a Goodrich fan until I started running these tires. Ask Angela. She autocrossed my old set. 023

Scangauge II = No oil pressure gauge. The hardest gauge to install and IMO #1 of the top 3 must have gauges.

Yes the factory temp gauge is just a fancy idiot light.

38  Welcome To Hampton Roads MiNi! / Site Feedback / New Server Issues - Update on: March 19, 2008, 09:31:33 PM
We are currently working to resolve any issues with the site.  It appears that there may be some threads that will still not display properly. Jim is working the back end larger scale isues but Wendy and I can help with local access issues.

To help troubleshoot this we need some specific examples of threads that do not work. No more than 2-3 should be necessary. Just as important is a couple examples of threads that do work correctly for you.

TIA

Obehave 075
A bad nights sleep combined with crap it's cold and rainy convinced me that more sleep in a warm snuggy bed was a good plan.
I can, of course, trot out the oft used "plenty  to do around the unfinished house" excuse 023. This of course means I now actually have to do something 105 icon_mrgreen

Now the real important part. The above statement absolves the "up on time and ready to go" Misbehave of any responsibility. 038

Lil' Bastids.
May years ago, pre-Misbehave, My house was broken in to 4 times and I had $1200(in '80s money) worth of wheels/tires stolen off my hot rod truck. I understand the anger.
I never caught them but I did know who one was. They used to play football in the street next to my house. As I was doing yard work the ball bounced into the yard. icon_mrgreen
SO being the nice guy I am 077 I took the ball back and quietly told them all.
" I know it's you. I am no longer going to call the police(who by the way spent more energy on grilling me on where I got my fire extinguisher and how it needed testing, than actually doing anything about the vandalism) but one day I would catch them and they would just disappear". Yea I meant it and yes they knew it. The vandalism stopped.
Unfortunately that was years ago and a new gen of feckin losers now lives here.
As you can tell from the above I'm a fan the the "where the hell did they go?" school. The whole drug cartel "make it messy" thing is just that , messy.

Grats on the capture Bart.

Now if you reeeeallllly want to have fun just wait until they get a car and..............

I've ignored this because I see little value in the thread in general but Mark's commentary kinda forced my hand.
You trotted out the "There's only 1 MINI Dealership" club CF so frequently uses to intimidate people. The arrogant, in my view, "You don't understand the car business" line is just plain insulting. Is car customer service different than any other business? No. A 3 year old knows when they're being treated badly. It's not rocket science. If people feel bad are they supposed to go " Oh, well it's just because I don't understand the ultra-mysterious car business so I'll have to let it go. Must be me."
My wife listened to 5 years of me bitchin about CF.
I only once left the dealership without an issue.....once. You can look up my service history Mark. That is A LOT of trips to the dealership. That was when Phillipe actually let me install my own wiper blades because they couldn't get a tech to install them and I had driven the 35 miles, one way, to the old dealership to get them.

Jim Hubert is(was?) a waste of skin. He got so tired of me he refused to talk to me. Told me, and I quote; " You can always drive to Richmond if you don't like our service". That's customer service for you.
Someone also made sure I stopped receiving my calls from MINIUSA for warranty work done on my car. Because? dun dun dunnnnnn I gave them bad writeups EVERY visit. They mysteriously stopped for 4 years. I even asked about it. Reply " Gee Mr Obehave, you sure should be getting them???"

I currently have 2 issues with my car. Passenger airbag light stays on. There is no commercially available reset tool. So I'll live with it until I can get to Richmond.
My passenger side door lock relay has died. This was repaired under warranty so I could probably force the issue and get this warranted as well. That would mean dealing with the obfuscation and BS at CF. Only if I find I have no other recourse but I'll most probably replace it myself.

Loyalty is admirable. Myopic, presumptive and, in my opinion, borderline arrogant responses do little to further your cause.

We've both said our piece and I'd like it to end there.
