Dale,
I have done a good bit of the planning for the first two years, and Wendy mainly headed up last year. Typically I think it's best to find some sort of central hotel that's fairly inexpensive, but not too low rent, somewhere around or just under $100 per night, with easy access to the fun back roads. Things get really good going into West Virginia, and it's pretty easy to find a place to grab lunch when we're on the road. 2 years ago we logged 300 miles of backroads driving on Saturday ALONE!!
Things are too much in the air for me to participate in planning this year, as I don't even know if I'll be in the state if this job hunt works out. (I'm trying to get a job out in Vegas.) I'm more than happy to help in any way you need though, just give me a ring anytime.

Happy to report Deb, Dario, Franklin and I will be attending in my soon to depart Avalon. Yep, I'm sick of the huge luxury non-fun mobile and on the hunt for something more entertaining. A clubman will be test driven soon, so who knows... probably lease this time around no matter what. We don't do the mileage, so that's a non-issue. See everyone down there! We'll be leaving earlier in the morning to enjoy stopping at farmers markets etc, and maybe some beach time before lunch!

Yeah, the first year we started at the bottom of Skyline Drive, made our way up to Luray, and hit up the caverns there. We didn't do a whole lot the 2nd day (at least I didn't). 2nd year, we drove up Lexington, and then did 300+ miles of craziness into WV... Couldn't tell you the exact route to be honest. Last year, I just took pictures! lol... I have no IDEA where we rolled to be honest. I'd love to be more involved this year, but seriously without a sporty car to drive for the event, I can't see it making sense to participate.

Really great to see everyone before the holidays... hopefully the pie company will be more prepared for larger crowds next time! At least the food was good once we got it... (except for our raw chicken wings..whoops) Don, I only glanced at your new mini as it drove by on your way out.. OMG... I was drooling hardcore. It's the first new model I've seen that I truly desired. Good job speccing her out!

I'm pretty darn sure Deb and I will be out with Franklin, Dario, and Jessie in tow. Sounds like a nice time and we're overdue to see everyone.
