I'm not sure who to trust anymore, Tim.  I had Boss tires on VB Blvd mount Tugs' new tires and I didn't have any issues with them.  Boss Tires is the place beside where 64 crosses VB Blvd where the Virginia Toy giant 4x4 sits.

Not to hijack your thread Dale but, I have the one that goes by the temperature control for sale.  It's $66 new, I'll sell it for $35.  icon_mrgreen

Did I mention that I also have a set of boost tubes?  Brand new, never installed...   002

I think it is, Kurt.

Another gratuitous spam...  I have TWO sets of wheels for sale.  Well, three actually...

What you really need is the Alta 3" catback system that I have for sale. :)

Sorry for the gratuitous spam but, I need the money!

I would suggest Lucas "Deep Clean" every third or fourth tank before I'd suggest STP.  I put the Lucas stuff in my van and the performance improved in just a few miles, no kidding!
7  Grease Pits / Mods - Engine, chassis and otherwise / Re: 2nd Gen Timing Chain on: November 09, 2011, 08:10:56 PM
Tell them what you just said here.  It's making an abnormal noise that several people who are experienced with Minis have told you is the timing chain tensioner(s) and you want it fixed under warranty or recall.  If nothing else, they will document that you complained about it on XX date and time and then if it goes outside of the warranty, you have some recourse.

I have a set of four that I need to sell.  I'd rather not split up the set if I can help it.  Make me a reasonable offer and they could be yours.  All four are in great shape and include caps.

The best suggestion that I can give then is to take it to Atlantic Autoworks.  Terry will assess it and give you an honest answer and suggestion(s) for correcting any issues.  I haven't had to use his services myself but everyone else here raves about how great and honest he is.  I have spoke with him at autocross events and my gut tells me that he is a decent, honest man and my gut is rarely wrong. :D

It's not the timing chain itself, it's the tensioners that make the racket.  On a cold morning it will sound like a diesel for a few moments to seconds.  Once you hear that, start shopping for a repair place.  Search NAM for "death rattle".   My Mini (now sold) Tug had it and CF replaced the bad components under warranty but he only had like 25k miles on him at the time.  If memory serves, it was a problem found mostly in early 2007 builds.  Check the build date on the sticker in your driver's door.

I'm going to do my level best to get to this one.
12  Market / MINI Stuff For Sale / Re: R56 performance parts: DDM Works Race Intake System, 3" Alta exhaust, GPS mount on: September 11, 2011, 10:59:12 AM
I'm not sure what to call them Kurt...  I know one goes from the turbo to the intercooler on the driver's side and the other goes near the firewall on the passenger side to the throttle body I think...
13  Market / MINI Stuff For Sale / Re: R56 performance parts: DDM Works Race Intake System, 3" Alta exhaust, GPS mount on: September 10, 2011, 08:55:12 PM
I still have the 17" PIAA Eurotech Vintage wheels w/tires, the 3" Alta catback exhaust system, a GPS mount that I can't think of the brand of at the moment but it goes by the temperature wheel, a Whalen shift knob with the I can't drive 55 (circle around 55 with a slash through it) and a stainless E-brake handle.  I also have Alta silicone boost tubes that I never got around to installing and a set of fairly new 17" Crown spoke wheels.  Make me an offer.

If you email those who haven't logged in in a while just say something like, "hey, we are doing some board maintenance and noticed that you haven't logged in in over a year.  Please come by and see what is going on at HR Mini!  Those who do not log in within XX days will be deleted by default but are always welcome to come back at any time!"  That way you don't get a bunch of responses to cross-reference.
15  Grease Pits / Wheels and Tires / Re: Wheel/TPMS questions on: September 03, 2011, 01:53:36 PM
I have a set of 2007 17" crown spokes for sale.  No TPMSs with them though.
