A Cooper can get over 100 mph? 102

Sorry, had to do it 023

Looks like fun. Where was that?

BTW, we found out Tyler's MCS will do at least 83. A nice VA state trooper gave him a certificate showing his prowess in handling that speed on I 81! Dangit! He gets to see what kind of reward he gets in a few weeks. I've heard rumors he might have to pay something, but I am hoping for a trophy or something......

Oh yes, been there, done that. Recently actually in our detail area. Also, at the old Yorktown Maaco, I was walking through the shop in the dark locking up one night and ran into the turn plate deck on the old front end alignment rack. Nothing hitting a solid object in the dark mid thigh height and falling to the ground in the DARK! No fun at all. But yea, those darn shin biters really hurt! It felt kinda like this 119

But the dang tow hook I racked my chin on that joker yeowzaaaaa that hurt!! brought tears to my eyes.

Hey Dale, bear with me a moment. How many times have you put your chin?, I mean shin, into a trailer hitch when going full bore around the rearend of a car your painting?

I've brought out blood on too many occasions, damn that hurts!!!  076 076 076 076

Please keep us informed on the goings on.

As for the Geocaching, I haven't been in way too long! How did that go?
3054  Welcome To Hampton Roads MiNi! / Off Topic Chat / Re: First '09 event proposed on: October 09, 2008, 09:41:02 PM
Steve and two other members voted for dinner on our own. That works better over all I think. I've talked to restaurants and they've shown interest in some sort of a discount, but I'm not holding my breath.

How about hotels? Looks like rooms will be somewhere around 70-90 bucks a night. Actually only one night. For about 90 bucks we can have a hotel with an indoor pool. Not sure how important that would be. Is it worth an extra 20 bucks? If ya have kids, maybe. If you don't plan on hitting the clubs/bars maybe. Both of the hotels I've spoken to, are willing to help out, so the rates may be lower.

How about weekend? Any weekend in February or up to April 4 works. (excluding March 28 for the indoor pool)
Right now, Sleep Inn is running $70/night to 3/7, $90/night after that
Best Western (actually pretty nice) $94/night

Post up or shoot me a PM. I want to lock this up by next week and start other events for 2009.

In Modern MINI they did have a real good picture. I like that a lot. Not sure it would look good on the Mellow Yellow MCS but I think that might work well on the new Clubman we have or order. I might just have to copy you on that one John!
3057  Welcome To Hampton Roads MiNi! / Introductions Please / Re: Hi all, newbie from across the pond. on: October 08, 2008, 09:20:08 PM
Told ya he had a good looking car!

Congrats on getting the pictures to post John.

Wendy, how did we know you'd be partial to John's color?
3058  Welcome To Hampton Roads MiNi! / Everything MINI / Re: Ding King....anyone have one? on: October 08, 2008, 04:37:32 PM
If ya ain't talked to John yet, the Dent Doctor he's speaking of is Chris Farley. His number is 592-0875. Never used him myself, but he comes very highly recommended. I have sent several customers to him and none of them have called me back to complain.

Hey John, I see you found our little site. For those of you that don't know, across the pond they have a great MINI magazine called Modern MINI. It's decidedly European in flavor. They have great content and give a really new perspective on the MINI lifestyle. I enjoy every page. They did a story on John, who owns a mobile waterless valeting service. I had sent him an email telling him I liked his electric blue MCS, the story they did and inquiring about his business. If you get a chance check out www.modernmini.co.uk  they have a great site and a great magazine.

Welcome John, if you ever get over here certainly give us a shout!

As for the drain tube, yes, all sun roofs have drain tubes, but most are an integral part of the assembly and not something they could forget to hook up. I think. Now that doesn't mean it isn't clogged or plugged. A lot of sunroofs have some leakage, but the small amount of water that gets in just runs down the drains. We just had our F150 over at Walt's Water Works back during the summer for a leak. Seems Ford put a water "diverter" in there somewhere. Well, it came loose and wasn't diverting the water in the right direction. The one good thing about them is that they've seen everything it seems. They really are awesome.

I wouldn't worry too awful much about the floor rusting. With todays corrosion protection and refinishing methods, that wouldn't really concern me. Musty, smelly, moldy carpet on the other hand could lead to a major annoyance at least and possible a health issue at worst. I'll PM you the carpet guys we use if CF doesn't come through. But for all the flaws that have been reported about them, I think they'll fix ya up. Just keep us up to date.
