Welcome To Hampton Roads MiNi! / Everything MINI / Re: Group Buy for BSH Oil Catch Can

It shouldn't affective the warranty. If you read the post on NAM this may just help save your motor.
If you put the oil catch can on your car and have a problem don't take it to Checked Flag. They will not honor the warranty. When I had problems with the 04 after Checked Flag changed the oil I took it back to them. They called in the MINI tocome and look at it and they blamed the issue on the after market oil catch can. Some folks that go to the dragon get together and make a run to Helen. it's a few hours from the Dragon. Several HR folks went a few years ago. Had rain the whole day but it was nice for something different.

Seafoam will probably help, IF you use it early enough. Otherwise, it's too late. The seafoam will just be absorbed into the carbon and not be nearly as efficient. It does work. I used it in my Jeep and damn did it make a difference. The Clubbie will get it this week. Also suggested is good fuel, but we already knew that, right? Using a fuel additive with Techron is thought to help too. Though I'm thinking seafoam in the fuel tank will help loosen deposits over time. I'm thinking a bottle every 2 or three tanks. I'm also hearing and thinking good things about an oil catch can like the one from BSH. LIKE THISDo you just add the Seafoam to your gas tank? I read on NAM where people were disconnecting a hose and putting 1/3 can of seafoam in the hose. Apparently they then start the car and it smokes like crazy for a few minutes and then clears up. Don

Market / MINI Stuff For Sale / SOLD, SOLD, SOLD- Brakes for Sale

When the group went to MOSS MINI, I bought new brakes for our car. I had last replaced them at 75,000 miles and figured it was time again as we had 150,000 miles on the car at that time. These were the same brakes I had on the car. I recently went to change the brakes. Once I took the wheels off I realized that the exisiting brakes with 87,000 miles on them looked new and did not need to be replaced. I am now selling the new ones I just got. Not only do they last a long time, the best thing about them is that you get almost no brake dust. The rotors are the Power Slot cryogentic rotors and the pads are the Hawk performance ceramic pads. These rotors and pads run about $638.00 plus tax and shipping. I am selling them for $500.00. Let me know if your interested.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm all signed up. Yes, I'm up for the Biltmore run for sure. Another idea for a trip was suggested last year. Is anyone up for a day ride on the Smokey Mountain train? Steph and I along with a few others plan on doing the train ride this year. Either Friday or Saturday. Don Which day/time are you planning the Biltmore run? We are working to do this run on Thursday from 8:00 am until 4:00 or 5:00 pm. We did not think we could do it Friday with the dragon parade and there is a bigger crowd on Saturday. I hope to have the information on the NAM site later this week. Don

I'm hoping Don will lead us again down to the Dragon in their new JCW. Wed-Sun New JCW? Must have missed this.... Do tell Don. Have been on two runs to the Dragon with Don leading the group, and both trips were perfect, no flats, no tickets, NO issues at all. Let's do it again It's true. We just ordered a 2011 JCW. It will replace the 2004 S that I am selling to a friend of my son. Build date should be Feb 2nd. I'm not sure if I will lead the group down this year. I am thinking about going down on Tuesday instead of Wednesday. I want to check out the drive for the Biltmore run we are putting together. Steph will drive down with the group on Wednesday but she doesn't want to lead. I may change my mind and lead the group if I get a chance to go down to the dragon one weekend. Don

If you folks could send me your routes that would be great. I was thinking about going from Fontana on 28. Taking the interstate over to Cherokee and getting on the beginning of the BRP and taking it towards the Biltmore. I'm trying to keep the drive time to a reasonable time because I not everyone enjoys driving as much as I do. I was also thinking about taking a southern route on 28 towards all the waterfalls then urning north to the Biltmore.

Years ago during the Dragon, Smokey lead the drive to the Biltmore. After the tour we got to park our cars in front of the house and took a lot of pictures. We then went back to Smokey's house for a great cookout.

I am working to put an event at the Dragon together. It will be a drive to the Biltmore for lunch and a tour of the main house. I hope to pick out some nice roads and stay off the interstate as much as possible. Let me know if you have any ideas or recommendations. Thanks !!!
