Scott is one of the coolest MINI owners you could ever know, and I 2nd your statement. I have always enjoyed the MINI community more than any other car club I have been in. Not sure if the belt tensioner needed to be replaced. What you actually want is the belt tension saver, which is a small steel braided cable that keeps it from flopping around in the engine compartment when the tensioner itself gives out. The fact that it's a small shock absorber by design lends itself to the fact it can/will eventually fail. Actually... I just looked at Way's site, and I see how they recommend changing out the belt damper bushings with polyurethene. Will have to consider that myself. Yeah... the lower control bushings do deteriorate over time. On my old '02 MCS, I went with the Atla solid bushings (aka Positive Steering Response System). BTW, BMW/MINI refers to the lower control arms as wishbones. I'm sure you've seen this link that explains how to drop the entire sub-frame assembly.

I'm up for the Biltmore run. Never been there. The rest is still up in the air. As for ANY runs, I will have my camera mount. It's one that bolts to the two support arms of the passenger head rest. That way, I can film some of the roads we'll be driving on.

I bought one of the OEM universal brake caliper tools from Autozone. Last I checked, the kit was ~$30. Might be a few dollars more now. The trick to the rear calipers is patience. The two points on the tool have to align almost perfectly with the holes, and it takes alot of twisting to get them fully seated (i.e. bottomed out). Once you change your rear pads, you work the e-brake on-and-off to get them to readjust. I found a more reliable site for recalls and technical service bulletins (TSBs): AutoMD - Recalls and TSBs. Here is a TSB specific to air bag seat wiring: http://www.automd.com/tsb/bulletin_b323005/. Check with the dealership to find out if this will fix your problem. You said your warranty expires Monday. Is it an aftermarket plan? The standard warranty is 3/36, and the factory extended warranty is 4/50. I purchased an extended warranty in May 2010 through the approved 3rd-party company BMW deals with. It's a 5/60 plan that started the day I bought it, which was at the 50K mile mark. That means I will have coverage all the way to May 2015 or 110K miles, whichever comes first.

Social Side / Hampton Roads / Anyone Up for Some Italian on Sunday, January 15th?
|

Date: Sunday, January 15th Time: 4 p.m., OK with ya'll? Update - Looks like they don't open until 6 p.m. UPdate to update, Kathy called, they are open all day. 4pm is the time. Restaurant: Mama Rosa's Location: 617 E Mercury Blvd., Hampton, VA 23663 (take the Ft. Monroe exit off I-64) Phone: (757) 723-3560 The food is really good, considering some say the menu's pricey. I have never bought any of their subs, but my mom says they are really good. She and some colleagues used to go there for lunch/pickup sometimes. You can go here to find a menu option to click on. Someone posted the prices are like $2 higher than what's shown. No direct restaurant link that I know of. Maybe a trip to Cold Stone Creamery afterward? Thoughts?
