This is a cut-and-paste from another thread:
I did some research and found this:
Motoring Underground - 2007 S Engine FS. Ad was posted on 2-21-2010. Owner says one cylinder has low compression, but the engine appears to be OK overall. Asking $800.
You can also try
Car Part.com. Search by year, make, model, and engine. Preliminary search yielded prices around $3K for a complete engine. Just a block search yielded no results. There are other sites that help find parts online. Used the words "used car parts" in the
Google Advanced Search option (to include all words). At each parts site you look at, after picking year/make/model/engine, there should be options to search by complete engine or block only, depending on your needs. Short block will contain block, crank, connecting rods, and pistons. Long block will include cylinder head and camshaft, and possibly fuel railing, but no accessories (e.g. alternator, AC compressor).
My brother's '87 van had a cracked throttle body housing a couple of years ago. The part was made by Champion (who bought a large division of GM parts manufacturing a few years ago), but they have gone out of business. I did a used search on one of these sites. I received e-mails from various used parts stores saying they had one in stock. Final price was only about $100. Was well worth it.
