the final verdict is that it is my fault for poor driving. CF has "knocked off" some of the cost but it will still be $750.00 to fix or to release it to me to have someone else fix it. I spoke with John Hall the MINI general manager and he was very pleasant to deal with.

So I'm trying to have my mini put back together so I can take it elsewhere and they are determined to charge me $1650 to do that. I spoke to several mechanics that have told me that since the car was a service loaner and people beat the crap out of loaners that there is no possible way to tell how much damage that the clutch took before I bought it. CF has told me that it was the original clutch for the car. To be continued......

I just spoke to Clay in Richmond and he said he has dealt with this before and that he doesn't understand the problem with it being covered. Yet another reason why I'll be dealing with crown mini from now on.

I'm getting hosed!!!!!! I was just told that the parts indicate that it has been slipping for awhile. I explained that it wasn't. According to them one side of the pad is shattered and the other is warn down and the flywheel is cracked and and heat scored. He went through the whole "well when people drive it hard" thing. I have never owned a vehicle with this much crap to go along with it. I asked him if since it was a loaner car then the wear could have happened before I owned it. I think I'm almost more #$@@%& off because they apparently think I'm an idiot. Checkered flag will NEVER get any of my money again after this.

You know the more I think about yesterdays conversation the more mad I get. There was a comment made to me that even if I burnt up the clutch that "someone" may still cover the cost. First off when you burn up a clutch you can usually tell by the slipping it does before it goes out. I never experienced that in this case....it just went. I hate someone telling me that they might "Do me a favor" by fixing this when I didn't break it. If I had then it wouldn't be bothering me...I'd be thankful. I have been looking at the NAM forums and it appears I'm not the only one that has had this problem with the clutch. I do the best I can to take care of my cars and I don't think I have ever owned a car thats clutch has gone out this early in its life. I will not be a happy camper if I get stuck with this bill. Just needed to rant guys.

Frank just called me to authorize them dropping the transmission to look at the clutch. He told me that they will probably cover it and that he thinks its probably that something came loose. He said that they could smell burnt clutch. I said NO joke!!. He gave me some story about how that when teenagers burn the clutch up cause they don't know how to drive. I explained that there are NO teenagers at my house and anyone that drives that car besides me is indeed an adult. He told me that I didn't seem like the kinda guy that races my car and I cut through the BS with a "I have been driving manual transmissions since I was about 11". Anyways the word so far is that if they weasel their way out of this then it will at least be $1700. We shall see what bull kaka they come up with. I have put 30000 miles on it and most of them have been highway.

Yes it's a red and black clubby. It's nice but the brakes are squealing and the clutch in it is pretty soft. lol 017

So they gave me a nice JCW clubman as a loaner and Frank seems to thin something broke loose in the clutch. He's suppose to call me later with details.

So I was getting on the interstate tonight and noticed a significant loss of power in my MINI. Suddenly I saw and heard the RPMs go through the roof and the car started slowing down. I tried to shift gears and heard a pop...... 093. apparently The clutch just "went". I had it towed to CF and left them a message. Has anyone else had this happen? I'll post more after I talk to them tomorrow.
