Hello all!

New to the forum and new to the life.  I picked up my car this past weekend, and finally got out of it and onto my computer.

My new MINI is a 2006 MCS, HB/WR.  Haven't come up with a good name for it yet.  "Fool68" is the liscense plate that I carried over from my last car - it looks way better on the MINI than on the old car  :D

Looking forward to enjoying the forum!

What's up!   Welcome to the group.  Looks like they have had a run on HB/W MINIs at CF.  I think this is the 3rd or 4th one in the past month.  My wife just got a 2006 MC HB/W.

My office is in Chesapeake so keep an eye out for a MCS CR/B with tags that read Hot Wngz .

Welcome to the group. So, what was your previous car? What city do you live in? Norfolk here. You will enjoy your MINI, as we all do. Stay tuned for info on get-togethers, drives, autox, bbq's, tech-days, and everything else. Who was your MA at Checkered Flag?

Thanks for the friendly welcome!  Let's see if I can answer all the
questions...

I'm down in the Hickory section of Chesapeake.  I can usually be found motoring between there and Portsmouth.

Jason was my MA at CFM.  He was giving me a hard time about not having a name for the car yet.  I'm stuck between "Jester" (going along with the
"fool" theme... and the fact that a guy at work keeps asking me how many
clowns I can fit in it  :? ) and "The TARDIS" (since it's a British blue
box that's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside - the Doctor Who
fans will know what I'm talking about :D)

I've been driving it for a few days now, taking time out for food, sleep
and work, and it's been a blast.  It hasn't met a curve it didn't like yet.
It's my first standard since 1999 - my last car was a '99 Taurus with an
automatic - so I'm still getting used to having fun driving again.  The
only thing I keep doing is putting it into 6th when I mean to put it in
reverse - the car inching forward and stalling must be it's way of giving
me a gentle reminder.  No problems fitting my wife and kids (5 yrs and 3
yrs) - at least none that I'm willing to acknowledge (bwahahahaha!)

The most amusing part is that I can fit it in my garage.  For years, we've
kept a Minivan on one side and all the other stuff (workbench, riding
mower, bikes, freezer etc) on the other - with my car relegated to the
driveway.  Now I've got the van on one side and the workbench, riding
mower, bikes, freezer and the MINI on the other (with room to spare!!)

Thanks again for the welcome.  I'll be looking for everybody on the road.

not sure i can do this but i'd like to try and take credit for getting sean behind the wheel of a mini (in all fairness he had done his homework).

he lives two houses down from my parents house (where i'm usually to be found saturday mornings cleaning merlin) and i let him drive merlin around for a test drive.

i'm excited you got a standard/manual!  that's the only way to be!

very well done.  look forward to seeing the as-of-yet-unnamed mini in the neighborhood.

ps. i like jester.  great name.
