Been TDY to Ellsworth. It was amazing flying over the Black Hill's, trees on one side, totally barren on the other. Been to Minot also. That was a killer. People plugged in their cars to electric engine heaters while at work and had remote starters. COLD!! Reminded me of winters at Loring.

Angela - you were POL?

Sure was!  Perverts, Oddballs & Lunatics!!!

Then went reserve after 6 (divorce + child x remote = get out  ) and cross-trained into T2T (AMC).  That was fun too, planes were bigger (C-17, 141, C-5's = WPAFB) but not as fast and no death & destruction.  :x

Angela - Was Ethel Mills your Chief of Supply when you were there?

Shawn - We used to go visit friends from Kadena at Dyess when we were at Barksdale. Got introduced to Whataburger's! :D  Wish they had them around here (place on Jefferson Ave, though good, isn't affiliated)

I don't think so.  It's been a while, 1996 when I left.  Plus POL was always the black sheep of Supply.  We didn't really hang out with anyone in our squadron.  Plus we were in a different building.

Name doesn't soud familiar.

Whataburger was good.....can't say I miss them though.  Wasn't very fond of that area, was glad when I went to Korea to get out of there.

For those of you not Shawn... I was stationed here at Langley in the 27th FS, started out as the 2 man on load crew 33 under Stu Fegley.  (Ask around about Stu Sean.... he was a of questionable parentage and a trouble shooting SOB.. best one man for me at the time.)
After meeting Deb, I got orders for Lakenheath...so I got to load on the Real F-15.  8)   A2A is fun..but A2Mud is better.  I asked her to marry me so she'd be on my orders in time...had to extend the full 23 months so she could come along.  I was in the 494th FS at the Heath.

TDY's...  The usual Nellis and Tyndall deployments, 2 months in beautiful Iceland, 100 days in SWA (My advon team was in place when Khobar towers got blowed up.), last but not least... NATO air meet in Denmark.

Good times indeed.

in this aspect at least I'm just happy to pay my taxes and live in awe and respect of the individuals who prepare and fly these birds to keep us free!
