Mrs. Fool's Birthday was this past weekend.  This means that among other gifts, the Mrs. always has me wash and wax her minivan for the spring/summer season.  And since it just wouldn't be proper to have the van look better than the MINI....

I tried out a bunch of the Prima products from Detailers Paradise with nice results.  Thought I'd provide an average joe's revieiw.

Washed both cars with Prima Mystique (using two buckets) cleaned both cars nicely and rinsed will with water right out of the hose.  I used a microfiber covered sponge from Advance Auto (I had been using the Mr. Clean system, but I'd notice a residue the following morning.)

Hit both cars with the DP Claybar and Prima Slick using Monster Fluffiles.  Worked well, but the DP clay is a little on the brittle side.  I had used Mothers last year, and that seemed a little more pliable to me.  I've used a few QD this year (Mothers, Meguires and now Slick), Slick seemed come off a bit less streaky than the others.  That could have been the MFs too.

Before I saw the microfiber light, I had used a soft cellulose sponge on the MINI  119  It looked ok in average light, but under the halogen parking lot lights at work I could easily see the damage that I was doing.  Lots of swirls.  I hit just the bonnet and roof with Prima Swirl using DP's Microfiber applicator and elbow grease.  The difference under the lights this morning (I pull in before sunrise) was stunning.  Still a few light marks, but overall this was easily a 90 percent improvement.  I may go after the doors next time I decide to do a full wax job.

Waxed the MINI with Prima Epic.  Very nice deep shine.  Though I'd also have to be honest and say the Maguire?s NXT was easier to put on and remove with an equally good shine.  I?ll have  to see which one holds up better.

I also used Prima Clarity and Nero.  Both are excellent products.  The Nero did an especially nice job on the vans black trim (which I managed to wax pretty good last year).

Looking forward to trying out the Prima Hydro on the next wash.  I?ve heard that also has some curing properties which further reduce swirl marks.
