Some of the more common ones:

MC   = MINI Cooper (MCC MINI Cooper Cabrio {convertible})
MCS = MINI Cooper S (MCSC MINI Cooper S Cabrio)
JCW = John Cooper Works.  An engine, suspension, or brake package from the factory.

WMS = Webb Motorsports.  Based in Colorado, and one of the few tuners in the USA that develops his own parts.

CAI = Cold Air Intake.  The supercharger on the S works better (more power) with colder air. (A plus for winter.)
HDI = High Density Intake.  Randy Webb's CAI.  Cold air is denser than warm, ergo the name.

Cat-back = Catalytic Converter and back exhaust.  Leaves the factory cat alone, and changes the pipes and mufflers on the car.  Allows the car to breathe better.

Colors:
LY
SG
EB
JB
DS
PS
BRG
AB
HB
SR
SB
RG
VR
CR
PW
SG
HO
CB
PH or BEP

My top 3:

DS/B
BRG/W
SG/B

(Bonus points to anyone other than a MINI2 Moderator who can name all the colors I just posted.)

Color/B or /W  or /Color  = body/roof color

R## = MINI OEM Wheels

TBL SCC = Tampa Bay Lightning, Stanley Cup Champs.

D'OH!!!! :?  :?  :?

Whelp, I'll claim a mental block on the IB - Sherry knows the reason, and I'm not counting the "flip" colors as I don't think any came to this side of the world....

you got me then on the second SG.. there needs to be something to seperate the two..   but there was a Aritic Blue (pre-name for Cool Blue) and Cosmic Black (Pre-name for Asto Black).  Also a Hyper blue .. ill fish around to see what other colors will fall under the AB CB and SG codes   Thoses were the names i could think of off the top of my head

AB : Astro Black
SB : Space Blue as well.. Shark blue was the Pre-name rumor before coming to the US
CB: Cool Blue .. not to familar with converitable colors
SG : Sheet metal Grey?  heard a rumor on it but never thought it came out on modern MINI.. was an old mini color though..

ACK .. SG : Solid Gold .. how could i forget that one

No shark blue, no hyper black. :)

you may mean jet black, the color of MNI LIMO.

solid gold is designated as 24k not SG. ;)

Do we have any HO's (hot orange) in the club?  I've seen a few driving around.

Thanks!!  that helps alot.    but here's a question.   Does anyone know the original Mini colors in the 60's-70's?  or the original body types for the 60's-70's ?  this would help us when we go looking for ours to buy. Thanks

This site: http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/ has a ton of information about the Mini over the years, and its many varients and spinoffs.  For many models there are pdf's to the orginal sales literature.  Your question is an extremely complicated one tho since the Mini was made in many countries, by many companies, and who had different color schemes...and there were special editions yada yada.  And a large number of 'decent' classics are going to have been repainted anyway.  Bottom line tho is you didn't see too many flashy paint jobs on these cars - as built.  Pretty basic stuff - and often very pale shades, esp for pre Coopers, and the later non-Coopers until the 80's.  Most 60's Cooper and S models I've seen, that were 'original' have been red, black, or white.

Don't recall if I mentioned b4, but the best mag I've found for classics today is MiniWorld.  Barnes & Noble @ Greenbriar gets it every month....and you can find them on line for a subscription.  It is a UK publication.

Thanks April.. i corrected the Hyper Black to Hyper Blue in my second post. hey i was close for off the top of my head along with correcting the Shark Blue to Space Blue. also thanks for the 24k.. didnt think there were two of the same SG class. Now if we add the 15 Pre-names that changed when they were released that would be a stumper. example Shark Blue, Black Eye Purple and Burnt Rootbeer.

oh and here are some of the old colors
