I've been driving my MCS for about a week now, and I suspect that the Odometer is out of calibration.  Playing with the tripodemeter and watching mile-marker signs on the way home tonight, I've got a naging feeling that i'm going about 1.1 miles for every mile on the odometer.  On the good side, I'll rack up few miles over the long haul :-) . On the bad side, it's harder to calculate my MPG.

Anybody else notice something similar?

Whelp, that was the same on my 204 JCW MCS....  and the speedo was off by 2-3 mph....   and the computer couldn't calculate MPG to save it's life.

Now, my 06 MCS (Stella) has the same speedo problem, but the MPG is right (well, w/i a tenth of my calcs) and the odo has been right when I do it on the interstates around here....

Hmmmm.....

I was sort of wondering about the speedo too.  Either it's reading a little fast or it's got enought giddyup that 65 feels really slow.

Well, lets see.  Last I heard (2003 models) the error was calculated thusly:

Indicated speed is 2.5mph plus 5% higher than your actual speed. The formula is ((S*1.05)+2.5). Thus, 55mph actual would be displayed as 60.25mph.

Howzat?

sounds good .. but the speed will change depending on tire size and tire wear. no mechanically Speedo will ever be correct all the time. Most speedo are set to be 5% faster as noted. So when you get that Brand new tire that is larger than the Spec tire used in calabration it helps to keep you from getting a speeding ticket.

And it varies on the basis of how many missles you've got on the rails as well, eh, mug?

When I saw it, there was one mounted in your tow hook socket (starboard rail).  Here's a pic:

All speedo's are off by a little. Even police cars...the radar systems are calibrated to the police cars' speedo...wink wink....typically the speedo's are dead on at about 55-60 mph but in the higher and slower speeds they can be off by as much as 7mph. that's why the police are required to give you a certain amount over the speed limit before they can touch you.
