I want to get as smooth a ride as possible via non-RFs on a 16" OEM wheel (x-lites) and I'm looking for manufacturer/size recommendations, as well as tires to avoid at all costs.

Edited to clarify: I need tire recs...already have nekkid wheels.

I just worked with Gil Gillman at Tire Rack and he recommended 205/50/16 size for best all around handling in a 16" and good fitment. For a brand he recommended the Goodyear F1 ($117/ea) or if you want a good tire for a good price the Yokohama AVS ES100 ($66/ea.). I ended up ordering a set of 16X7 O.Z. Ultraleggera wheels with a set of the Yokos..should be on my doorstep Friday! Can't wait! I wasn't sure if I wanted to move up to 17" or stay with 16", but for all around best handling stayed with the 16"..and saved 5.5lbs per wheel/tire in weight!

I ran 215-50 16s(Goodrich Tractions TAs) on the X-lites for a year or 2. Angie is running my old ones on my old wheels now.

Better all around all season tires than the F1s(excellent tires but not good in snow).
They will ride better than the 205-50s which I also ran in auto-x/daily driving and they also keep the speedo closer to stock readings.

to sum up. If you want a softer ride go with a 215-50.

Edgeracing.com sells the Falcon 512 very reasonably. Good tire, high speed rated, and delivery to my door in two days.

I am running them on the Cabrio, and am very happy with the ride.
