Schultze still has OEM brakes.

Called CF Parts to get price quote for JCW brake kit, which was $1065.00 ($965.00 after discount).

As is often the case, aftermarket parts are sometimes better & less expensive than dealer parts...if this holds true for brakes, I'd love to hear suggestions for brakes.

Important:  Whichever brake system I upgrade to, I still need to be able to run 16" or 17" wheels.

well, unless you plain on doing hard core raceing, I would save my money and not get the JCW breaks. beleave it or not, the OEM breake package is pretty good. I would just change out the pads and get rid of the dust. There are some realy good pads out there. Just all depends how much you plan on pushing your MINI.

On point with Carl.  Unless you've got some serious track days in the future you've got enough braking power now.  What alot of people are doing is Super Blu Brake fluid, Stainless steal brake lines and upgraded pads.  Cheaper than a new Brake kit.

Happy stopping.....er shopping.

Yeah, I gotta pile on here.  Unless you're planning on some heavy duty track days (Autocross does not count) there is little need for a big brake kit, unless it's for pure bling.  If you are intent on a BBK, I'd go for the Detroit Tuned model.  It's pretty darn good for the money.  If you really are out to impress... Tar-ox, Stop Techs, or Wilwoods are the way to go.  If you are happy with the current braking performance of the car, stick with the OEM's... they are actually pretty fantastic.

like they said .....

EBC or Hawk front pads - under a hundred bucks and about an hour ....  great instructions posted on NAM.

rears are slightly more difficult but only slightly - you's want to either borrow the tool to retract the piston from someplace like autozone or pick up the kit at Harbor Freight ....

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=40732

usually on sale every other week for half this price....

I have always used a five inch C clamp and it works fine. Can be picked up from any hardware store.

What's the prize if I don't puke?  (A chance at driving it?)
