Hey Everyone,
My name is Russ. I'm new to this site and was recommended to check out HRMINI by Brian Fellini, MA, over at Checkered Flag MINI. I spent almost an hour with him today and finally got a chance to sit in a MC and MCS. I was very impressed by the whole experience and it was not your typical visit to a car dealer.
I'm still in the planing phase and will go back an test drive all the variants when I have more time.
Here's a question, that I'm sure will be one of many more......Any HRMINI Members have the MC with the CVT or 6 speed auto in the MCS?
Thanks in advance for your replies and any other advice.
Regards,
Russ

Welcome Russ! My wife has a MC with CVT. Roughly 1600 miles on it and it is sound as a pound. Keep us posted on your progress and we will try to help you make the best decisions for your new MINI. cheers - larry

My wife will also drive the MINI, so info on the 6 speed automatic tranny and CVT is important to us. The test drive will be the acid test. BTW, were you at Checkered Flag this afternoon around 3:30? I saw a MCS just like the one in the pic on your signature. Again, thank you Sir. Regards, Russ

Welcome!!!

I was lurking on the NAM site and my take was the majority over there think one is nuts to get a MINI with an auto tranny in it. Like Brian said today, it's what you want and what makes you happy...... Thanks again Sir. Regards, Russ

No I wasn't at CF today. I was there yesterday though (Friday). I was getting a chrome hood scoop. As I was leaving there was a huge 4x4 that pulled in beside me. I guess they were going small this go round on vehicles. See you at the next meet. - larry

And where are my manners? Welcome Russ! :D
Yes, NAM has a lot of boyracer wannabees there who bash the auto MCS. The MCSa forum mod from MINI2 is local and on this forum, he is a very good source for MCSa or CVT information. He hasn't posted in this thread yet but is up reading the forum now. ;)

 Note the laughing emoticon, rustywheels. I have a Jet Black MCSa with F1 style shifting paddles on the wheel also. This baby will shift faster for me then I could ever shift with a clutch. The revs are awesome between gears and it's also fun watching the other guys trying to keep up,Ha Ha!! I did have to have a software update done shortly after purchasing the MINI, but I never actualy had a problem. I'm certain BMW got the bugs worked out of that auto tranny computer glitch by now. Anyway, if you want the automatic, I say "Go For It". I've driven both and like them about equaly, it's like they say, get what you want and what makes you happy!!! :smt023

Hi. Sherry and I have two MCSa MINIs right now. I am one of the two automatic trans forum moderators on MINI2.
You did not ask, and I will only butt in once. If you have to chose between a loaded CVT, or a stripped S with the 6 speed, try and go for the S.
We have had no reports from a global membership of a failure in the Aisin 6 speed, and as reported above, they are a hoot to drive. The only option on mine is the automatic, and I love it. :D
Pyre Fly is unfortunately for sale, due to the impending birth of our new GP. If you are going to order a car, better get hot, the plant is getting ready to close production for the year. :(
