Just a reminder folks, our first project day is this Saturday, July 14. Please see this thread: http://www.hrmini.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=1701 for more details. Arrivals can start as early as 10 am, if you like. I never did get around to the munchies aspect which was brought up so if you feel like bringing something - rock on. If not, okay. As always, Casa de Gardner will have Diet Coke, Orange Juice, Water, and Coffee available. I'll also have fruit and may hit the grocery on Friday to pick up some other munchy type things. If you don't know where Casa de Gardner is, PM for directions. I know MCASS is Saturday so we won't have a HUGE turn out, which is fine. First time through, shake out the kinks, etc. However, if you are coming on Saturday, PLEASE either PM me, e-mail me or respond to this thread so I can get a head count! Thanks so much. Ladies - To the line... Thread Your Needles ... GO! WAHOOOOO!!!! Peace, R.

Count me in! I went to Fabric Hut tonight to get the stuff I need for the first project. I had NO idea how much quilting fabric they had and how hard it is to pick out, match, and coordinate! Hopefully it will come out alright. The fabric I bought for the middle section might be a bit fussy to work because it's got labradors all over it. I ended up buying more than you suggested just in case.
OH, and the lady asked me to bring the finished quilt by the store. They love seeing them. Hopefully I can do it justice.

Deb that is beautiful! What a wonderful job you did, you look like a pro. I hope mine ends up looking half as nice as yours did.
Do we need something else to make the border on the back? Or was that just a last minute change?

Do we need something else to make the border on the back? Or was that just a last minute change? The border on the back was a happy accident. But isn't that part of the fun with quilts? Making it look like it you meant to do it that way. So you shouldn't need anything else for the back unless you want a border. Riqui adjusted her notes to make sure that you don't have to correct an oops.

Deb, that's awesome!!!! Looks wonderful. Are you sure you haven't done this before? Yep, I'm sure I haven't done this before! I have used a machine before and it was simple straight lines. It would have taken much longer if Riqui hadn't had her hands helping and guiding me along the way. I also have to admit that Riqui did the edge for me because she can sew at turbo speed while I am in first gear. I wanted to take home the finished quilt. We started around 10:30 a.m. and didn't finish it until about 7:00 p.m. I'm not sure how far along you girls will get with two projects going on once. So, I will be there next week when you guys do yours. I figure I can sit and watch if you want to do it all by yourselves, but if you decide that four hands are better than two, there will be an extra set of hands on hand to help. Thanks for all the compliments! I can't wait to see the fabrics you picked. It's amazing how beautiful they look when they are done.

DEB - oh wow the pic's are awesome, really does the quilt justice. So did Ben tell you it can't be a puppy blanket yet?
Still sorry about the back border. I know you said it was fine but I will kick myself for a good long while over that one!
I am so glad you had fun and I am really glad your quilt came out so GREAT.
Thanks also for volunteering to come next weekend and help out - I am sure it'll be a BIG help.
I already started a thread for next weekend - the two things I learned this time, most people are not going to finish and we need better munchies on hand than I had!!!
Peace, R.

Peace, R. Stop kicking yourself. I love it just the way it is and think the pebble pattern would have been overwhelming on it's own. I will bring munchies next week too. I just wasn't thinking about it to be honest. I probably could have gone the entire day without eating. Franklin is a different story and I should have stopped to get him some snacks. I was really bad about bringing snacks when he was a toddler too. sigh...bad mommy! Also, Ben didn't tell me I couldn't use the quilt for the dogs. Guess it will depend on what happens when he sees them laying on it on the sofa. thanks again!
