I'm not sure how many of you have yahoo or aol instant messenger, but I want to post up my screen names on each so you can chat me up if you're on sometime. Maybe you can post your SN too? I'm online like 60% of any given day, so odds are good I'm free to chat.
So my screen name is, (I know..it's hard to believe)..

Chat, google chat and Ichat - not postive tho (I'm at work and can't look down in my system tray to verify) Also, lol, I have no idea what my screen names are on any of them, LOL! vashti42 on aim jenniconnolly on yahoo...yeah I know real original 8) I'm real mean to people who IM me unless they identify who they are - because I'm getting hit on constantly - it's probably the Jennifer Connelly connection...see..not even spelled the same... For those of you who use several chat programs, I recommend Trillian. I love it because I can have all of my buddies in one list, one program, you don't even have to have aim/yahoo/iqc/msn installed. Chat screen name... it's the login name you use for any given chat client, like yahoo messenger or aol instant messenger (AIM).
I can't believe I'm explaining this... I met my wife this way over 10 years ago! lol.
With instant messenging, you have a "buddy" list window on your computer when you sign in, that shows other people that are online. You simply click their name, and it opens a chat window where you can send them a message that pops up immediately on their screen. They in turn, can type right back... virtually talking simultaneously. This also enables the use of web cams if you have one and want to use it.
What I enjoy most about chatting like this is that you can have sometimes extremely meaningful conversations relatively easily, because you have more time to compose your thoughts and structure exactly what you're trying to say. The only real downside is with chatting, there is no tone of voice, allowing for misinterpretation of your intent in the conversation.
