Hey Scott,

Can you post the website where you bought the mount for yours & Riqui's Garmin's?  I would love to get one.

Thanks! 002

Does it stick better than the one that came with the Nuvi? Mine doesn't seem to stay on the glass for more than a few weeks at a time.

The one him & Riqui have is a black leather (vinyl probably) wrapped mount that hooks into the defrost vent on top of the dash & wraps around the front lip of the dash.  It's only about 1 inch thick & wide and comes with some kind of conversion thingy that then screws into it small flat front and then Garmin mounts onto it using the Garmin bracket.  (sorry, I didn't describe that very well.)

I have the same problem, Jenn.  I've come out to Chester, more times than I can count, and found my Garmin laying on the floor, mount & all!  119   I have the Garmin Nuvi 360 and I don't feel like paying the $300+ for the MINI specific bracket.  The one Scott & Riqui have only ran approx. $15-$20 (If I remember correctly). 002

The mounts Riqui and I have are from Kuda.  The link is:

http://www.kudausa.com/kuda_mount_and_holder_for_mini_mini_cooper_02-06-34-314.html

Scroll down the page, because the first mount on the page is the downtube mount, not the dash mount.

The mount itself is multi-purpose, and doesn't automatically come with the hardware to attach your device to the mount.  If you add the mount to your cart, it will take you to the next step, where you choose your device (iPod, GPS, cellphone, satellite radio, etcetera).

The mount itself is $56, and the hardware for attaching a Garmin Nuvi is about $30.

I got the Kuda mounts after having the Garmin suction-cup mount fail one too many times, usually resulting in the GPS bouncing face-first off of the Whalen shift knob.

The mount has two metal tabs, one that slides between the dashboard and the oval vent in the middle of the dash, and another tab that slides under the front edge of the dash.  It requires both force and finesse to get both tabs fully engaged, but the end result is extremely solid, considering that there's no screws or adhesive involved.

The Kuda mount is covered in black leather, which is nice, but it's not a very good match to the MINI dashboard, which is actually dark grey.  Other than that, I've been very happy with it.  It mounts the Nuvi in a location that's easy to see, without blocking the Chrono Pack/Speedometer/Nav display, depending on which your car has in the center location.
