Hey guys... wheel shopping time again.  15's this time.  Can someone explain the whole wheel offset thing to me, and what is an acceptable range for our cars?  There are like a million wheels out there that are 4x100's...but the offsets are all over the place.

I beleave the offset on the wheels that I got was 40mm. I think if you stay around there you will be safe.....

Also offset will make more of a difference with wider wheels.
Going below 40 is risky if you want no rubbing and especially if you plan to lower the car.
I'm at 36ET but with the 8" wheels I had some minor inside rubbing(wheel not tire). On 7.5" wheels I almost certainly wouldn't have. I also have some outside liner rubbing. My next tires will be 225-45 instead of 225-50. That should help too.
The downside is 7.5" wheels aren't all that common. You could stuff 225s on 7" wheels though. Doable for sure. Tire mounter might hate you though.

We put 225's on 6" wheels on the Eclipse(Actually had 245's on the when we still had BFG R1's).  Most of the time, I was the tire mounter..  I hated myself..  :D

Cheers,
Alan

Man... it's a short list of wheels.  Anyone wanna help me shop?  My only requirements are that they are dark in color/finish... either gun metal, anthracite, or straight up black.  Chrome details/lips are fine too.  This will be for my daily wheels.  40 offset or higher  (I found a site that said the range was 40-48)  Lightweight rules over style... and in all honesty, I'm really hoping to find  a set that's actually under $150 per wheel... lower is even better.

I was all about the 949 racing rims in black... but considering your issues Terry, I'm guessing I should go another direction.. unless you think some spacers, longer lugs will solve all the problems?

There are some SSR's with 710's already mounted on NAM...  11.5 lbs per rim.   :D

Powdercoat.   A rim will fit in your oven.

Ben, have you checked out 18Racing.com?  Nice stuff, and in the sizes you want.

nice find... browsing now.  :-)

I'm really tempted by the konig rewinds.  I've admired them for a long time.

Yea that place rocks. I would go ( and probably will when I get my new rims) with the SLIPSTREAM's. They are the lightest that they sell. Only way your going to get any lighter than that is to shell out the $325 each for the SSR's.

Are you lowered at all?

If not +38 - +50 will all work fine.

The lower the number the more it moves the wheel to the outside of the car. And looks better  :D

Lower Number.... Bigger Lip.   :D

Rota Rewinds   15x7 35 offset.. 215x45  needed a .25 offset for the front.
