Looking for tire recommendations. Are there excellent performance tires that are also all season?? Or am I smoking crack? Also looking for a tire that would last longer than 32k miles. Thanks - larry

Gentleman....... let the tire posting begin!!! Avon Ultra High Performance All SeasonKuhmo High Performance All SeasonI drove on the Avons and I thought they were great. Check out the Tire Rack.com. I've ordered about 4 sets of tires from them and they are great to deal with.

yeah, such an opinionated topic really. lol. I tried the general exclaim uhp... good treadwear rating, and for daily's they were pretty good. I wanted something more sporting, so I chose the nitto neo gen tire for my next set... it has good reviews in a few places, so we'll see!

Just got the BF Goodrich G-Force T/A KDW 2 put on the car today. Have not driven far enough to rate them. I did seem to notice a smoother ride than the Goodyear Eagle F1. The G-FORCE is a very agressive looking tire.

Define "All Season".. Do you really need snow capability? If you can look past that there are many tasty possibilities..
Cheers, Alan

I've come very close to picking up the KDW's myself Don! The only complaint I heard from anyone was road noise, but that was mostly a bunch of whiney bmw 5 series people that drive with the windows up and enjoy their total silence experience. The tread pattern is definitely sweet, and I hear they hold the corner really well.

Thanks very much to everyone for the recommendations. It really can be daunting to pick new tires out. There are so many and some are very expensive. Sean, you said you drove the Avons...how many miles did you get out of them? I wonder why they are so inexpensive if they are so good. The reviews on TireRack are very good.

Well, here we don't often get snow, but we do get sleet and freezing rain occasionally. Plus I travel to points north (not too far). I would hate to be caught out in bad weather like that with tires that can't handle it. I would like a performance tire that will support the MINIs capabilities, last significantly longer than 30k and won't put me in the ditch if do find myself in poor wintery weather. Define "All Season".. Do you really need snow capability? If you can look past that there are many tasty possibilities..
Cheers, Alan

Sean, you said you drove the Avons...how many miles did you get out of them? I wonder why they are so inexpensive if they are so good. The reviews on TireRack are very good. I had the Avons, for about 10 months when I sold my 04. The Avons saw summer spririted driving as well as snow when I drove to Snowshoe WV. I thought the tires were great BUT they are not High Performance like the Azenis I use for street tires. With that said they were far better than any OEM runflat. Sean

Falken Ziex ZE 512 from Edgeracing.com.
I have had several sets, and really liked them. You would not be in with the in crowd with them, but they are really quite good for the cost.
However they are imports, made in Japan. You know what junk they make.

Steph said she didn't notice the tire noise because all she hears is the exhaust. As you know I wear a hearing aid so noise is never a problem for me. Don :D
