Ok it has been a VERY BAD Mini week :(  F1 PLZ received a complimentary battery on Monday and will get a new windshield today.
CAR4DOG had an appointment on Tuesday for some general servicing and to fix a few items, faulty fuel sensors, replace plastic piece on hand brake and such. There was a recall on the glider/slider portion of the convertible top so that was fixed.  Got the car  Wednesday @ 3 PM and by 6 PM there was very little if any oil in the car.  Thank God I had only done a quick errand in it after picking it up and had used F1 PLZ for my other running around.  I'm a little PO'd that my fairly new white concrete drive has some major oil stains on it now.  I had to call Road Side Assistant for the 2nd time in 5 days.  Really nice tow truck driver from Bumble Bee and wouldn't you know it - this time I have a tow hook and he doesn't like to use them.  He has special BMW tow straps that he  placed on both sides of the underside of car and and got the car on the bed without issue.  So off we went to CF - doing the walk about to make sure NO damage to car while on truck - the driver and I both realized that there was a fine spray of oil all over the rear window - so you know it's all over the canvas top - URG.  Was finally able to reach Philip and he came over to CF and I thought I was mad - he really was.  Poor Frank got blasted this AM - what a way to start the day for him (TS). So now I have a ' 06 silver cooper in the drive while CAR4DOG is being checked for possible engine damage due to loss of oil and they are going to attempt to detail the oil off the car - I am curious as to how they will remove it from a cotton top.
If anyone has suggestions on just how to do a walk about with Frank after such an event I would greatly appreciate it - I am thinking that we should get a new top because I know that I am unable to get salad dressing oil out of clothing I just don't know how they will get it completely off the top.  Plus the tow truck driver said the entire underside of the car was coated with oil.  I think I lost the majority of the oil during the drive because the spots on the drive wouldn't even be a quart in my estimation.  You can be assured when Mini USA (or whoever calls) regarding Wednesday's service on the car will be getting an ear full.
I saw a doggie doctor yesterday and he said his Mini had been in the hospital for over 6 weeks due to a fault computer so I guess I should complain to much, but then again this is my life and causing a lot of PITA for me - URG.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Wow, Laurie, sorry to hear about all the troubles.  It's hard not to get mad when you know part of the problems are human error.  You brought your car in for some faulty mechanical things and routine maintenance, and because of human error, you now have more issues than when you started.  Give them a chance to fix whatever damage has been done.  Try to keep your cool in the process.  I know it's hard.  I have to work at it daily.  Remember they have a reputation to uphold, and if you tell them know you won't tarnish their rep if they treat you right, they may surprise you.

Meanwhile, enjoy the silver 06 on them.  At least you're not putting mileage on CAR4DOG at the moment.

Laurie, I wouldn't worry about oil on the cloth top, it just adds a little extra waterproofing. ;)

Thanks for the words of encouragement :)  I hadn't thought of the "waterproofing" aspect for the top :)  You guys always help to put things in prospective.  Am so glad to be part of such a caring "family".  I really appreciate you'all.

We speak from experience, when we towed the Daisy Car to Vegas, we blew a pinion seal on Big Ugly on the last leg of the trip, and blew old 90 wt gear oil all over the front, top and engine of the poor MINI. The hardest part was getting the oil out of the radiator and intercooler. The top just washed out fine. It does still smell a little strange tho!

Additional rustproofing!

I'm sending you a psychic hug, Laurie! You sound like you could use one!

What a terrible thing to have happen! What's up with CF service these days? It seems like we've just been hearing story after story about what screw-ups they are over there. And they used to have the best service reputation in the country not too long ago! Now they sound worse than Brecht in San Diego!

Sherry, those pics are awful! I'm glad you got the Daisy car cleaned up.

Laurie, have some patience. Hopefully everything will turn out all right.

BTW, what was the recall on the top?

Boy oh boy - when it rains it pours, doesn't it?  Anyhoo - I did NOT get a new windshield on Thursday as expected - they first sent the wrong wind shield - it came with a rain sensor box on it and I don't got one of those on the present windshield.  Fortunately SafeLight is just around the corner and the guy returned within 15 minutes with the correct wind shield- he starts the job and when he goes to take the black molding off from the sides of the wind shield he realizes he can't take them off without possibly cracking them because he thinks whoever replaced the windshield the last time glued them in place.  So the decision was made that I would wait until he actually had molding parts in hand so he can complete the job correctly in case they do break.  So hopefully early next week I'll get a new windshield.
CAR4DOG did come home on FRIDAY - did a very thorough walk about with Frank and the exterior (&interior) was quite shiny.  Frank said that the engine was checked and no damage was done - I am very grateful I hadn't driven it very much with the misplaced oil ringy thingy.
Now would you believe as I was returning the loaner as I turned onto VA BCH BLVD that the low tire pressure light went off?  I think I need a vacation.  Thinks for letting me pp and moan here - it helps to vent.
