Anglea it sounds like you are having the same week I had for the last 3. I am sorry things are going bad for you. I am glad that the bad work days are starting to move away from me. ;-) Yeah, it sucks! The worst part is that I love the work I do and most of people I work with but I can't live with NEVER being able to go to the Dragon again. You know what I mean!?!? :x |

I missed the part about why you would never be able to go to the dragon again? My company is blacking out time periods where vacation time can't be taken and it includes the first week on May. So obviously I looking for a new job now....know of anyone hiring for Admin / Accounting / Billings / Collections / Property Mgmt.? :roll: |

You have to be there to take rent. Even most admin, accounting, and billings positions will have cycles each month that make it difficult to take a vacation during its busiest times. Do you hate your job that much or just love the dragon that much? Just a thought. Currently I am not doing property management, I am the billing coordinator for a general contractor. My month end close out happens on the 10th of each month for the preceeding month. The reason why they're blocking out March, April & May is due to fiscal year end close out. Which I have very little to do with and the few parts I do have a hand in are done by mid-April. And yes, I love the dragon that much....plus work isn't my life....it is something I do to make money to enjoy my life. It's just sooo upsetting because I love the work I do and I don't want to leave, but I also don't want to never be able to attend the dragon again either. :cry: |

So why don't you talk to your boss about that one weekend out of the year. Explain that your input for fiscal accounting is minimal and that your absence wouldn't affect the rest of the office. If you love your job, try it before you quit. Explain that you love your job and the time you ask off wouldn't be for a full week. You don't want blackout vacation dates to keep you from the dragon when your role during that time is secondary.

My boss goes home because she's "tired". She took a whole month off at the being of fiscal year end closeout this year to go to Africa! They don't give a sh*t that it is important to me. Anyway, they haven't made a formal annoucement on the policy change yet. So I am going to continue to work there & keep my eyes open for something better. (Will tell new employer that they don't need to hire me unless they are ok with my taking the time off for the Dragon.) After they make a formal annoucement, I will re-address the topic with my boss and try to appeal to her "human" side. If she still says no then I will put in my 2 wks. notice 2 wks prior to the Dragon. :twisted: |
