Here are the rules for vehicle entries from the Hampton parade siteVehicles:

Cars/Trucks should have a minimum of 800 miniature lights (or large bulb equivalent) per vehicle
No more than 10 vehicles per entry
Motorcycles/Bicycles should illuminate either vehicle or rider in some manner
Larger commercial trucks must have a minimum of 1500 (15 strands) miniature lights (or equivalent in large bulbs).
Drivers of all vehicles must be able to show proof of a drivers license & insurance
Do not close your generator in the trunk of an auto
Name of sponsor/business may be noted but not so as to detract from theme
