Hey Gang, Looking to get a new set of autocross wheels & tires for the '07 S. Looking for suggestions from y'all. If it were a Camaro I'd have all the answers, but for the Mini I'll bow to your experiences. What are the pros and cons of 15", 16", and 17" diameters. What about widths. 6.5", 7" wider? 215, 225, 235?
I know most people just love to help others spend their money. Tyler's mad the Camaro got a new motor, so now he wants new feet on the yellow ride. Thanks in advance folks.

I just got a set of Falken Azines 205/50/15. I am going to get them mounted today I hope. They are the best that I have used that don't put me into another class. All though I follow SCCA rules and am not versed on NASA rules. I got rid of my runflats right off the bat. Like driving on rocks. So if that is what you have really what ever you get will be an improvement. Happy shopping!

Questions are .. What class are you planning to Run .. Stock , STX, STU, DSP or SM
Stock GS = either 16 x 6.5 or 17x 7. Both Street and R compounds allowed. limited width but most use the 205 street and 215 R's
STX = rim size open but limited to 225 width and street tires compound no less that 140 allowed. suggested rim width 8" but can get away with a 7"
STU = same as above but this is if you have the JCW kit and depends on the club you run with if they put you in it
DSP = All mods allowed in STX or STU but on R compunds.
SM = open class. Like it says anything goes. if you changed the Boost (pulley for SC or boost controller for turbo) your here no matter what. Perferably R compounds. Widest rim width seen is a 10" wide running 275/35/15
As for Tires most perfer the Azines , Hankooks, or Dunlop 901M an others but these are mainly the 200 wear rated tires
When talking about R compounds Hoosiers (most popular and expensive), Hankooks 214, Khumos and Toyo RA-1
Since you have the 07 i would stay with the 16 (perfered) or 17 inch rims. Since you dont need to lower the gear ration like those of us with a pre 05 mini's. The large tires with the larger foot print will help in forward bite and traction all around. Just remember the larger the rim (diameter) the heavier and more Rotational mass which can kill performance for Autox. 15" are ok but this will put you into DSP or SM depending on what else was done.
Also if you wish to rent a set of Hankook 214 in a 205/50/15 in C30 compound (hardest made for road race) for an event just to get the feel for them. That can be arranged since im currently having a Blast racing my Counterfit MINI.

Probably looking at running SM or DSP. I just can't leave anything stock! Being a Hoosier dealer, I'll probably get a set of A6's. Though something more dual purpose friendly may be in order. What offset is preferred? I'm looking at a set of 16X7 wheels and 205-45-16s.

heres your bigest problem, or would that be smallest. Anyway, you can not run 15" on the 07. The 07 comes with the old JCW break kit and 15s will not fit over it. You will have to go with 16s or 17s This place has got some pretty good info. http://www.soloracer.com/minir56setup.html

I ran the 16x7 SSR Comps. Loved them. Very not cheap though. Got mine when SSR was going belly up and everyone was dumping inventory. Make sure you swap out the rear sway bar too.

Tire rack has three 15" wheels that will fit over the JCW or 07 brakes. I like the Kosei racing in orange. heres your bigest problem, or would that be smallest.
