As previously hyped, we've put together a leisurely yet spirited drive through the country side to Beef O'Brady's in Midlothian, VA.  (See Tim & Amanda's review here: http://www.hrmini.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,32/topic,2270.0/)

We'll be departing the AMF Bowling Alley at the intersection of Lynnhurst Blvd. & Pughsville Rd. in Chesapeake at 9am and making our way to Beef O'Brady's at approx. noon then returning on a slightly quicker route (but still a path less traveled) which will take us approx. 2 hours.  (route can be viewed below)

Visit Beef O'Brady's website (www.beefobradys.com) for restaurant info.

Please vote on which day works best for you. 023

Thanks for the heads up!  We've changed the dates to pick from so that it doesn't conflict with other events.  And we've added the route to the first post.  Hope everyone can make it!   026

Speaking for us, the 22nd is a good date. But, we will go with whatever the group decides on as a final date.

umm...Richmond isn't smoke free.  My son lives there and there are only a hand full of places I can walk into that serve alcohol that are not smoke filled.  In fact there are no smoke free localities in VA yet.  Norfolk and VA Beach (and maybe Chesapeake) plan to go smoke free in March, but if Del Gear has his way all of the bills necessary to make that legal will die in his subcommittee. (as they have every year they've been proposed)  He heads the ABC/Gaming subcommittee.  They table every smoking bill so it never gets voted on in subcommittee which prevents it from moving forward.  One of those bills simply says "let the localities choose."  The ONLY smoking bill to get through was last years attempt at reversing what little protection we have now, which the Governor vetoed.

There are, however, individual smoke free establishments dotting the landscape.  I make it a point to give them my business when I can find them.

I follow this very closely because for me it's a life and death matter.
