Looks nice, but it is not worth my $30k. Not sure what the guy is smoking to ask that much...i don't care how much he spent on it, if I had $30k burning a hole in my pocket I wouldn't bite on this one.
That being said, it may very well be worth someone elses $35k. I bet it's a blast to drive one of those VTEC minis.
For that much cash he could've painted the inside of the bonnet.

I wish I could remeber where I saw the video, but they had sold the Mini Cooper driven by Charlize Theron in The Italian Job from the props department in the movie studios for something like 5 grand! Now that was well worth the money.
My friends at Minispares in the UK would no doubt say that this is a chav Mini (the checkerboard car) Those flares are way too big and tacky. Regardless of how fast it might be, it's a bit over the top even for me.

...the Mini from the IJ remake was sold on TV at a Barrat Jackson (sp) auction and made me realise what a farse that entire series is. According to BJ it was one of the actual cars used to make the original IJ....despite the presence of airbags and 13 inch wheels and it went for over $30k....and is now in a Vegas mus'm according to the web, & so labled.....watch the movie and look at the car. Not even close. Yes it did come with a movie poster and was part of another BJ sub plot (a contest the auction ran), but sorry, no forgiveness in my mind. Read 'Classic MotorSports' who regularly reviews these auctions and see regular reports of OMG, someone paid THAT!!!! Which is NOT to say, I think this VTEC is worth the money. But like I say about mine....it doesn't matter what I think it is worth....it's what I can get someone to write a check for..... Else it is worth ZERO 'cept to me.... |

That car was in the remake of the Italian Job, but just to own a seat that had Charlene in it at one point- I would pay a $0 premium for that.
One of the ex-works Mini's sold in England for $100k not too long ago- I wouldn't spen my money on that either, but at least I understand it...paying extra for a celebrity's butt imprint is silly.
back to the topic on hand, does the VTEC car look like it sits a little high in the front?

Sorry i just dont see why i should rip my Precious Elvis apart just to transplant a ricer motor in it.... You can get plenty of power out of the A+ motor and thats just what i am going to do!

It's a great looking car...and I ***am*** in the market for a Classic--just not sure what is involved with dealing with a "lost gear". Any input, opinions, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If I ***did*** buy that car, I'd have to replace those flares...those aren't OEM are they? They seem HUGE! |

Not only that but this build is only about a year old so why is it being sold so quickly? Those flares are required in order to cover the 13x7 deep dish wheels and are a requirement for inspection. There are also several different types of OEM flares that were fitted to the Mini's. The only kind that might cover those wheels would be Sportspack arches which are not cheap for authentic ones.

Shawn, Thanks for the concise explanation. I didn't even realize that it didn't have a Mini engine. Hmmm...guess it's time to call my uncle who owns his own garage and get his input. He's been itching for me to buy a MINI for racing purposes...he used to own a race team and has been wanting to tinker a MINI for me since I bought Schultze! It'd be one heck of a trip from FL to NE OH, though...especially without 3rd gear! |
