For those not in the know, Sherry is number one the list at CF for the GP.  As it turns out, she'll get this as well......

From www.motoringfile.com (and the CF Staff)

MINI USA will offer the first batch of 80 GPs delivered to the US a chance for a truly special delivery experience. MINI USA will be announcing the plans at the New York autoshow today.

Here?s what we know; MINI will fly the first GPs out to Monterey Historics in California where the lucky owners will pick them up. After the festivities are over, you will have the chance to join MINI USA, journalists and MINI owners for a cross country road trip culminating at Limerock. Along the way the caravan will be stopping in major cities and picking up even more MINIs for the rest of the ride.

We?ll have more on the plans (including the official press release) shortly.

If I was going to be in the country, I'd drive to Cali and back to be part of this, GP or not!!!!

That is so cool! We may have to shorten the CA Dreamin trip for this!

No, CA D starts Sept 22. We may fly out and drive with them for a few days then return to VA. We don't have unlimited leave yet. ;)

On MINI2, I posted we'll have to do four mods before it even leaves Monterey:

1. Add MINI2.COM sticker
2. Add the Checkered Flag sticker
3. Add the Hampton Roads Club MiNI sticker
4. Install the Ian auto up circuit.

Thanks Carl, nice photoshop.

I don't think I have the cajones to do that right away. Besides, red roof is the better choice. I was debating about shipping a set of chili red 17s out to Monterey to install for the drive back to the East coast.

I still have the bullets from the Daisey car. I think those will be my daily driving wheels.  :)

Jason, I hope they are being good to you at work, I know you would have really liked the trip out.

No. That trip is reserved for one very special customer. I would feel like such a pig if I even dreamed of going. You deserve that trip more than anyone, after all that you and Sherry do...

I would love a GP unfortunately, Checkered Flag does not pay that much, atleast not to me.  Well, I will be glad to simply sit in one when it comes in and dream!!  Well, for all who get one... hope you enjoy them... I still love my royal grey... Maybe I will win the lottery... That is wishful thinking.... Well... Hope everyone has a happy Easter!!!!!

wxsquid & anyone else able to lend a hand.

April told me to come in here and ask for help.

I'm ordering a GP & was (or may still be) #1 on my dealer list here in the San Diego area.  I was offered the Monterey/MINI takes the States trip, but was told it would be on my own dime--to the tune of $2000, just for Monterey.  Please keep the cost issue on the quiet side, but I'm trying to find out if any other dealers are planning on charging the buyer for the trip.

I thought this was a MINI USA event... and that it would be charged off to marketing.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
