My Mini is in the body shop until the end of the month.
Here's why:
http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2224506

After only 2 years the front of the hood is all chipped up.  So while it is in the body shop I'm having the hood re-painted.  Then I want to protect it with some kind of clear bra so it doesn't get all chipped up again.  Does anybody know a good place, preferrably southside, to get this done?

Sorry about your MINI. I think everyone needs to take another drivers training course when renewing their licence. About the clear bra, I've had both our MINI's done at Bay Custom Tinting by Daren in Newport News 874-2337.  I know its on the Peninsula but worth the drive.

WOW David.  So glad you and your wife are okay.  Terry is always teasing me when we're are on the road about the invisible passenger brake and always checking mirrors.  It's not his driving I'm worried about it's the ones that live in their own little world  around us.  icon_sad

Thanks, Wendy.  We're fine.  That really is the most dangerous part of public streets... the public.
The insurance estimate came in much lower than I thought so it must be mostly sheet metal damage.
Thanks, BabyBMW.  A recommendation from a satisfied customer counts a lot when choosing.

OMG David! I am so glad that you and your wife are okay. Did you think about placing an ad in the paper looking for witnesses? Maybe someone saw the car and didn't stop.

Thank goodness Mirth did her job and took care of you both. What in the world are you going to Autocross now?  039

Glad to hear you are OK.  I do hate drivers that run.  That's what happened when my MINI was sideswiped in a parking lot (car parked right next to me) in October 2007.  I was told the driver probably had no license and/or no insurance and fled.  To this day, they never caught the person.   076

By law, the officer has to issue a ticket if more than one vehicle is involved.  Since the other driver fled, you were the one considered at fault.  If everyone testifies that the other driver left, the ticket should get thrown out.

As for clear bras, I'm not sure where to go, but I don't recommend Bay Custom Auto.  They are right around the corner from where I live.  It's my opinion the shop is run by young children who don't know what they are doing (they did the work on my MINI from the two wrecks in 2007).

Got my clear bra installed just a couple months ago.  Extremely satisfied.  Spend the extra $ to get the top of the rear bumper done too.  Saves the loading scratches. It was in Chesapeake.  Just trying to think of the name...Ultra Shield.  They are part of a national franchise that guarantees the 3M product through all the national vendors.
