I've always thought of the pax score (and I may be way off base here) as a mathmatically imposible formula designed to simulate the removal the car and it's varibles from compitition.   017

In other words if everyone out there was driving the same car (in the fastest class) this is what your time would be.

Kind of like them coming up to me and saying "Roy your slow as dirt but your driving an H Stock (slowest class) MINI Cooper BUT if you were to take this A Mod (fastest class) around the course you'd still suck just not as bad".

I just ignore PAX as I think there are too many variables to make it count for much.  Raw time is raw time.  I'm not sold that the ratio between the classes is constant on different courses, different surfaces, different weather, etc.

Actually Roy..... the formula is......

Where R is PAX on a sunny day with relative humidity above 75%.  This value is only correct if ALL other competitors are using REDLINE oil and a Wal-MArt transmission fluid.  Likewise once you take the square root of "S", speed you'll soon realize that the overall pax postion won't be admissable in a court of law.  Likewise, when you look at the cube root of "D", Distance to the event, the farther you drive to get to the event the higher your "D" value.  Those drivers have a preceived better pax ionly because they think they deserve it.  Sadly, they're mistaken.  Now, what really kills the MINI in pax is, "L" or length of your vehical, this is where you see the Corvette guys really compensating for something.

The way I use Pax is.... if you're in a high HP car and you beat me in Raw time...... well you're supposed to, I mean, you've got this High HP car and all...... BUT if I beat you in RAW time then I brag my butt off about how I BEAT you.... yeah you... the one in the Roush Mustang Stage 47 Turbo Surpercharged NOS Injected Detroit Iron Car of Death.

For a real life example..... There was this fully race prepared Subbie WRX STI... full roll cage, gauges down the A pillar, full race harness for the baby seat in the back... I mean it was built to go fast.    Then Terry Baker in an HS Copper..... just like Roy's underpowered lighting bolt, and spanked the Subbie by 4+ secs on every run.

So, it's not what you got, but how you drive it.  I've seen Roy pass Corvettes, while having a discussion with the student in his car.  It ain't HP, it's the Line that matters.

WOW, how did I get way up here on this teetering soap box?!   119

Using that reasoning I feel a lot better about my 73rd place finish...there wasn't a single car that beat me with less horsepower...for me every car is a high HP car....as long as I don't let a competent driver ever drive my car and see how slow I really am I can continue to feel good about beating the few cars that I do beat.

And you only used half as many tires as the rest of us!!   102

Yeah TJ, we're going to have to look at the rule book to see if it's legal to kick your car up on two wheels just so you can drive over the cones so you don't hit them.

Thanks Sean - I though I was looking at the PAX thing all wrong. You make it sound so easy.

I still think I took out one of the cones at the finish....there is no way to get through those cones after the finish without hitting one.  I think the cone ended up way over by the fire hydrant so my run #4 should've been a DNF, but run 5 was my fastest run so it makes no difference at this point.
