Roy, the car would need a cage and a fuel cell.  The old cage has been removed and sold same as the fuel cell.  As it is now, it either needs a new fuel cell or a new boot floor and battery box since there is a big rectangular hole where they used to be.

My flares would cover the rear fenders, but they have been cut a little to make the car able to be lowered.

The fronts are so cut out - mostly towards the front of the car that regular flares won't work - the radius is too big.

Even if I can get the wife buy in, this is a long way from a perfect find.  The firewall has been cut and a box inserted to allow clearance for a weber.

Shawn, I agree on the lovely sound of the A series.  Hoping to get mine on a dyno in Novmber to see how little Hp it actually makes.

Leave it like it is and come racing. Put it on the big track.

BS Levy once said that racing a classic Mini is like wrestling a bear cub in a phone booth.

ROFL!  That's a good one!   icon_mrgreen  Back in my high school days I used to tell people that wanted to fight me that they had better practice first by shaving a wildcat's butt in a phone booth. hehee  118

Getting back to the main reason this thread was started.

I searched for about a year and a couple months. That alone was an incredible learning experience. I'm still learning new things regularly.

Buying a Classic on E-Bay isn't so bad, once you learn what to look for. If you want minimal work once you get one, be prepared to spend alot, likewise  if you don't mind the extra work, save some money at purchase time, then put it in when you decide which way you wish to build the car.

There's lots of nice Classics out there, and theres plenty of turds too. So keep in mind the old adage "Buyer Beware".

I feel like I did pretty good with mine, some might say otherwise. Just so your happy, and have the fun your looking for when it's all done.

Good Luck, and shoot me a PM if you have any ?'s I might be able to help with.

John is right, what you want to spend is up to you, just be careful.  There are also other resources besides Ebay for finding Minis.  So if you have any questions or want someone to go look with you there are a few of us that can give you some help.
