Quick update and a couple of questions for y'all on the Tour of the Bay. Since I want everyone to have a good time, I'm looking for some input:

1) Travel plans, we can either go up the  the Eastern Shore and back down through eastern VA or vice versa.
The VA side is a bit longer. The Eastern Shore part is probably a bit faster, so I figured to come back that way. But it's certainly up to a vote. Either way will work.

2) Food: How much seafood can you eat?
Lunch on the way up. would y'all like to have a restaurant to eat at or stop somewhere with several fast food places to give more of an option? Again, I don't have a preference.

3) Dinner Saturday night:
Would a central restaurant be preferred over dinner on your own? Keep in mind there are several good seafood restaurants on Kent Island. Also, there are several good night clubs/bars on the Island. We should definitely visit some of them. Most are with in walking (stumbling?) distance to the hotel.

4) Lunch on the way home?
We can do another restaurant or again have the option of stopping somewhere with several fast food places grouped together. Again, it doesn't matter to me.

Either way we have ICE CREAM stops figured both ways!

1 - I vote for the Eastern Shore for the return trip.

2 - I can eat a *ton* of seafood.  001 I'd prefer to skip fast food altogether, as well.

3 - I think a central restaurant is a good idea, but you'd probably need a consensus on that.

4 - Again, I vote no fast food.  001

I guess I get a vote too. If I'm allowed, I'd say seafood anytime. Ice cream too. Nathan owes me one, but that's another story!

All the restaurants I've looked at so far have seafood, smaller portion seafood and "regular" food too.

I have one really interesting eatery lined up on the eastern shore. I'll check it out this weekend.

One thought might be to rotate directions. If we have a good time this year, maybe run UP the eastern shore and back down the mainland next year. But I'm leaning toward returning down the 'shore.

I also plan on making a post in other MINI/Mini clubs forums in the area as well. Unless y'all can think of a reason not to.

MORE INPUT NEEDED

Dinner at Kent Island: would everyone like to have dinner together at one restaurant or break out for dinner on your own in smaller groups at any one of the great seafood restaurants on the island?

Personally, I think it would be easier to just split up, pick one of the eateries grab dinner individually/small groups before after dinner drinks or just BSing in the parking lot. I've gotten a few offers from three restaurants so far and they aren't offering much of a deal and fairly limited selections. And with the options up there I hate to see the offerings reduced. I've eaten at most of them up there over the years and they are all excellent.

So dinner on your own or one large group outing?

If its going to be a large group going on the trip, it would be easier and faster going in smaller groups. my 3 cents. 017

Steve and two other members voted for dinner on our own. That works better over all I think. I've talked to restaurants and they've shown interest in some sort of a discount, but I'm not holding my breath.

How about hotels? Looks like rooms will be somewhere around 70-90 bucks a night. Actually only one night. For about 90 bucks we can have a hotel with an indoor pool. Not sure how important that would be. Is it worth an extra 20 bucks? If ya have kids, maybe. If you don't plan on hitting the clubs/bars maybe. Both of the hotels I've spoken to, are willing to help out, so the rates may be lower.

How about weekend? Any weekend in February or up to April 4 works. (excluding March 28 for the indoor pool)
Right now, Sleep Inn is running $70/night to 3/7, $90/night after that
Best Western (actually pretty nice) $94/night

Post up or shoot me a PM. I want to lock this up by next week and start other events for 2009.
