I stopped by ACU4 this morning to check out how everybody, especially my MINI/Mini buddies, were doing. I had to be back home by 1 PM or I'd have stayed longer. I really miss autocrossing. Anyway, looks like the home team did purddy good! Here's the results as posted:
TJ Fitzgerald took a solo victory (still first place!) in GP Roy Armstrong Killed HS by 5 seconds LeLane eeked out a win over a Corvette on Ladies class by just over .02 after PAX Angela followed in third in Ladies barely .14 behind LeLane. Damn that was close! Neal Davis grabbed second less than .6 outta the lead. Michael Mountain and David Cooke were 2nd & 3rd in STX. We gotta work on that VW next time!
All in all, MINI's had a good day and Team HR MINI did rocked! I wish I had the Yellow car to run, but A) Tyler was at work and B) Langley killed our right side tires. Good enough excuses?

Dale, first place in a uncontested class isn't saying much. I think even if I prepped my car all the way for G prepared I would still be pretty slow - at least on a course like that one where I am hitting the rev limiter all over the place. I had to go to 3rd on the long right hand sweeper.
Maybe I should save my pennies and get a set of wheels/tires for my miata and autox that instead.

Blasphemy! Never a Miata!
And first place is first place. Period. Regina was the South East SCCA Solo II ESP/L champion in 1981 & 1982. One of those years she was the only one that qualified for the title. Funny, on the championship patch SCCA supplied, it didn't say she was the only one in class.
It ain't your fault no one else showed up. But yea, tires would help!

A win is a win. The last time I raced in the ITC class I got my only first place win. There was only one other car in my class and he broke before he finished the first lap. That trophy is proudly displayed on my shelf. It was a shame because it was another 510 and would have been fun to race with.

And I betcha NO WHERE on that trophy does it say YOU were the only car in class!
Remember, preparation is as much a part of racing as driving. So is showing up!
T.J. remember a win's a win! Enjoy it!
Back in 91 (I think) we had a VA Championship series state wide. I was just a few points ahead of Tom Stangler fo rthe win going into the last event. He didn't show and I won!

TJ, your a winner because you are the only one who brings out a classic ever month, like me. That way the young one's can see where real cars started at.

I show up and run because it is a blast, and I really don't care (too much) that I usually finish aroound 90th place....I was just saying that it seems a little like a little kid's soccer league to give me a trophy for being 90th place.

TJ, you should hear all the positive comments people are making while your running. You've got one of the coolest cars out there. Anybody (with money) can go out and buy the latest track weapon, throw some bolt on goodies at it and go fast. But to bring out a classic (competitive or not) adds style to the event. I mean who wants to watch an event with just a bunch of BMW's, Corvette's, Mustangs and Miata's running around.

Hell, I'll attest to that! After working the test drive events at the MINI Takes The States, I darn near got MINI'ed out! I mean nothing but MINI's for 7 hours a day even got old. (Did I say that?)
