My Mini S failed inspection because the tires are worn too badly.

I am going to get away from the run flats and run something else. Two sets in 53K miles is too much.

Looking for recommendations on replacments. 205-45R-17.

Help

It all depends on how you want to drive your car. Soft/sticky tires will handle great but don't last very long or you can go with hard as bricks that will last a jillion miles but will squeal around an off ramp with your grandmother driving.

What do you do with your car and how do you drive it? Give us an idea and we can give you better recomendations based your style of driving. I drive the dog poo out of mine and like stickier tires, thus I have to live with the fact that they won't last very long.

Like many Mini owners I drive it hard and play on the back roads of southern Chesapeake. I like to take exit ramps as fast as I can.

I guess what I am after is a tire that will let me drive like I want to but not at the expense of the run flats if I am just going to wear them out.

Thanks for the responses.

We put some BFG G-Force Sports on our S last year and have some pretty good life left in them.  And we have yet to get a squeal out of them when taking off ramps at "higher" than suggested speeds  077 , and for those that know us that's saying something.  I figure we will get about 25K out of this set.

Out of the many tires I ran, I enjoyed the Nitto Neo-Gen tires.  They're specifically engineered for vehicles with lots of negative camber and/or lowered vehicles.  They wore really well, yet still gripped hard and gave way predictably when I exceeded grip... plus they look sweet!

I mentioned in another thread that I really enjoyed the Yokohama Paradas I had last time around.  Just make sure you have the tires aligned.  Mine started sounding like Thornburgs after awhile.   023

It won't be too long now and I'll need to get something on mine as well. I hate the ride of the run flats. When I talk to tire guys (Professionals) the ones at Goodyear claim they have to install run flats as that's what the car came with, and you have no spare. On the other side of the coin, the gents at Firestone say run what you want. It's your car.Now I know, those are two of the more expensive chains and theres lots of other tire stores with even better selections. I just had to put in my 2 cents.

Now if I could just get Roy to show me how it is exactly that his MINI runs on dog poo  017 I have a Daschund that is very willing to keep me up with some good stock   104

You mix it with 110 octane race gas.  023
