Fellow Sociale Gourmet'ers....
As I mentioned on a previous thread, I was interested in checking out Let's Dish to see how they measured up to Sociale Gourmet. Last week Andria & I went over and they let us make a dish for free to give them a test drive. Here's what we have to say about it....
The store was clean and had a very open floor plan. No retail store area though. Rebecca, one of the co-owners greeted us and she was nice and accommodating. She took us over to the apron area and had us store our belongs and put on an apron & a bandana on our heads then sent us off to wash our hands. Then we started on our meal.
There were three things that I didn't care for. First thing is that all the instructions read like a recipe. You need 1/2 T. or this or 1 C. of that. Okay, no problem right? Well, here's the problem, There are two big metal shelving units on each side of the store with a variety of utensils & measuring devices and the utensils that are on your work station aren't necessarily the ones that match up to the recipe. So off you go to hunt for the 3/4 t. Good luck! Let me know when you've found it. Second thing is that they have one double sided freezer unit for everyone to use, not two units like Sociale Gourmet. So on a busy night we'll be stuffing it full. Third thing was, like I said before, no retail gourmet store to browse through.
Okay, on to the meal. We made Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast with Honey Dijon Green Beans. It wasn’t bad, didn’t really have a strong flavorful taste but it was okay. The green beans were good. One thing that concerns me though is that a lot of the meals come with potato sides. When we tried Supper Supers they had potatoes as a side and they tasted pretty bad from being frozen. I can’t say for sure that would be the case here but it’s still a concern.
All in all it wasn’t a bad experience but I won’t be giving up my Sociale Gourmet anytime soon. Let me know if you guys want to set up a private session so we can all try it out because this is just our opinion.
