Ok, I noted just a bit in the picnic thread that my car won't start. Figured I'd post....heres the prob: I get clicky sounds and all the lights; inside and out, seem to flash when I go to turn the ignition. Thats all.  022  I got a battery jump last night, let the car run and drove it for about 20 minutes.    Got the same "no start" issue today.   086 Even after describing these symptoms to 'someone' they still think its a battery issue.  102  I'm not so sure.
NOW; I have no problem getting dirty to fix the thing.....BUT how complicated is it should this not be just a battery issue and a starter and/or alternator problem ?  105 Should I just leave it to a professional to handle?  curious...thanks.       100

If the battery has failed it won't accept a charge. I've run into that before. The fact that it runs once jumped leads me to believe the alternator is working, but the battery is not accepting the charge. If the battery was dead AND the alternator wasn't putting out it would die as soon as you disconnected the jumper cables. I can't seem to get more than 3 years out of a battery no matter what I do, so if your is close to that just pop a battery in it.

Shoot, if you can jump it and get to an Advance Auto Parts, they'll usually check it out for free and even install the new battery for free.  At least that's what they do over here. Just DON'T CUT IT OFF!!!

Hey thanks Dale; I've been calling around this afternoon for a battery-No Advance in VB has it in stock. I've got a place in PUNGO that has one or two so I'm going to run there as soon as I can get outta work.    And, as far as the life of the battery, I bought the car in May 05...so here we are 3 1/2 years later.
Wish me luck! I hope that's all it is   027

any of the big parts chains will do the same (test the bat and charging system and bolt a replacement in place) so don't restrict your battery search to AZ.  try Pep Boys and AutoZone too .....  even Costco and BJs

Also may want to look for OPTIMA battery....a good one....I think they still have a rebate available...alto it is a pricey battery it is STRONG

Thanks for proving me right!  023 I love it when that happens. Especially when it happens so seldom!

Congrats on being mobile again!
