Glad the battery was the problem.  I just changed out my stock battery in my '02 MCS this past Spring.  Got about 5 1/2 years out of it.  My friend at a dealership said the battery amp rating was a bit low when he tested it, which I was attributing at the time to start problems.  It turned out to be crappy Hess gas, but I'm still glad I changed it at the time.

Usually, a short battery life means the alternator may not be charging it back up (i.e. bad voltage regulator inside).  However, since two of you only received three years of life, maybe Mini had a bad batch of batteries.
