Well let me get this off my chest.  I took my mini in to CF to get the Seal around my sunroof replaced since it was sticking when it was really hot outside.  Lo and behold they fixed it. icon_smile  BUT then the bad weather came last week with the nor easter we had with the torential downpours.  And guess what? My car flooded 022 I had about 2 inches of water in my car, my son and I were driving down Jefferson Ave on Thursday when it was raining real bad, and water was just pouring in my airbag light on the passenger side between front and back windows. I called CF and talked to Service manager, he said are you sure you didn't leave the window down? are you sure the sunroof wasn't left open?? NO NO NO I was riding down the road watching the water pour in the airback light and down the passenger window into the electrical box down by the floor board. I also noticed last Monday it was quite a bit of moisture over night and my headliner was soaking wet. I'm really mad 076 this 28K car is starting to smell like mildew already, passenger seat belt was also soaking wet. and smelling really bad. I bought the car on June 3rd now i'm scared CF is going to give me some kind of run around, I have appt. to take it in on Wednesday that was the soonest I could get it in. What should I do if they give me the run around??  Jeff said he thinks they forgot to put the drain tube back in is there such a thing??  I so upset.  Any words of wisdom or encouragement would be welcome.  022 Nucknfuts

First things first, get the leak stopped. That's paramount. CF had darn well better make it right and the heck with waiting until Wednesday! They should make room to get i tin. Period, it;s called customer service.

Next order of business is to get the smell out. Recently the interior of our 99 Z28 got a little wet. That'll happen when ye forget the T tops are off and it rains. I have a company, two guys actually, that shampooed the carpets in the car and no more musty smell. I was VERY impressed. I would think CF should cover this.

Last, but certainly not least, if they can't fix it, there is a company that used to be in Va Beach, they just moved to Chesapeake, called Walt's Water Works. Walter Hedge is fabulous on water leaks. Again, CF should cover this. Then again, my shop won't even touch a sun roof. They are difficult at best, so I won't bust on CF too bad. But they shouldda checked it before you got it back.

Note also  that it is only on the passengers side that it is leaking. Is there such thing as a Drain tube that runs down the car?? I've only had the car since June it's an 08 I think they have to make it right.  Someone else also said that the floor under the carpet would start to rust. Is that true??

As for the drain tube, yes, all sun roofs have drain tubes, but most are an integral part of the assembly and not something they could forget to hook up. I think. Now that doesn't mean it isn't clogged or plugged. A lot of sunroofs have some leakage, but the small amount of water that gets in just runs down the drains. We just had our F150 over at Walt's Water Works back during the summer for a leak. Seems Ford put a water "diverter" in there somewhere. Well, it came loose and wasn't diverting the water in the right direction. The one good thing about them is that they've seen everything it seems. They really are awesome.

I wouldn't worry too awful much about the floor rusting. With todays corrosion protection and refinishing methods, that wouldn't really concern me. Musty, smelly, moldy carpet on the other hand could lead to a major annoyance at least and possible a health issue at worst. I'll PM you the carpet guys we use if CF doesn't come through. But for all the flaws that have been reported about them, I think they'll fix ya up. Just keep us up to date.

So sorry to hear all this.  I agree with everything Dale told you.  Make CF do their job.  With the headliner being damp or wet, I'd demand it be replaced.  If carpet is soaked through it should be removed to clean and dry it properly.

After CF has done their deal, if you still have the stale or moldy smell contact me.  Hubby owns a machine that we use in our business that will take care of that.  It's not just a quick fix.  It kills the agents causing the smell.  It requires being placed in the car for a few hours with the windows up.

Yes, there are definitely drain tubes for the sunroof (see diagram in Bentley 2002-2004 manual, page 540-5).  If you look at the very front corners underneath when it is open, you should be able to see a small hole on each side.  The tubes run down the A-pillars.  I believe they are made of rubber or a soft plastic and can be easily disconnected/reconnected.  It is an easy fix and should only take a few minutes at the dealership.

As for the smell... I definitely would make sure CF takes care of that.  Since Mini S Pilot mentioned the process takes several hours, this may mean leaving your Mini at the dealership for a day or so.

Be sincere and firm, but keep your cool.  I've been upset before when issues cames up, and Frank always worked with me to resolve them.

Hey Everyone,

I took my mini in yesterday, (dang I need to get a name for it).  I dropped it off Frank asked me if I had accidently left the window's down or the sunroof open? I said Nooooo we were riding down the road in a torential downpour and it seemed like all the water was coming in my car. So anyway after dropping it off my son and I went geocaching around the area. Frank called Jeff at work and told him the seal around the sunroof was blown?? ok.  He said also that my drivers tail light was cracked and also getting moisture in it, they had already fixed that. But he said there were stripping the carpet, headliner, passenger side seatbelt, airbag and Light, and also all the works in the electric panel. I told them  I had placed marks and several of them on the area's of concern and also they were hidden so I would know if they just tried to clean it up.  I just know they will do the right thing.  I will let you all know how it comes out.

We found 3 of 7 we searched for around  CF, there is one right by the mini cooper sign there. We knew nothing about geo caching until the picnic and AWood told us about it, now we are hooked. To date we have found 62 we started on the 15th of Sept. We go out every chance we get, the kids really love it, and it's pretty good exercise. We also have learned all about chiggers, nasty little critters aren't they?? As for my mini  dang still need a name, i'll keep you informed, they will have it for awhile i'm sure. I sure do miss it.  Oh and something I forgot to mention. When I took it down Frank said they were redoing the tailpipes because it sticks out and people are being burned. He said the new one's are in about 2 inches, I told him not to change mine, they really don't look good. I know not to lean up against it Jeff found out the hard way. But the dang tow hook I racked my chin on that joker yeowzaaaaa that hurt!! brought tears to my eyes.

Wow I just went to my profile page, and it say's i'm a Lurker LOL kind of reminds me of my car, with the wolf eye's on the back windshield that light up when I step on the brake. I don't see a water name fitting my car. Now had I gotten the lightning blue it would have been perfect, because it would have been done in dolphin graphics. I wish I could figure out how to post pictures, maybe then someone could help me get a name. Some of you have seen it, it's totally wolf.  Anywho no word from Frank yet, i'm sure it's gonna be a bit.  I'll let you know when I do.

Oh yes, been there, done that. Recently actually in our detail area. Also, at the old Yorktown Maaco, I was walking through the shop in the dark locking up one night and ran into the turn plate deck on the old front end alignment rack. Nothing hitting a solid object in the dark mid thigh height and falling to the ground in the DARK! No fun at all. But yea, those darn shin biters really hurt! It felt kinda like this 119
