I'm about to paint my knob and...  Oh God!  That sounds lewd as hell, doesn't it?    107   Anyway, I'm about to paint my Whalen knob and I need to know which paint is more likely to stick to polished 304 stainless steel.  Acrylic or whatever Testor's model paint is.  I think the Testor's is enamel...

For what it's worth, the acrylic is soap and water cleanup and the Testors is paint thinner cleanup.  Help me please!  icon_mrgreen

Hey Jeff!  Not sure if this helps or not but I just asked Neal and he said that he would try the Testor's.  Do you have any way to etch or scuff the small areas that you are going to paint.  Maybe a super fine tip on a dremel?  Or a super fine sandpaper and a steady hand?  He said you would have a better chance of getting the paint to stick.  Have you tried asking Doug?  He may have a suggestion from experience.

I don't have a way to etch or otherwise scratch up the engraved parts. :(  I started with the Testors and it seems to be sticking pretty well.   I can't find my glasses and I don't know if they would do me any good or not being over 14 years old so I'm just painting in the whole area, letting it dry and then putting a dab of thinner on a white cotton painter's rag and wiping off the high spots.  So far, so good...   Thanks for the tips though!  icon_mrgreen
