At the end of work yesterday, I approached my MCS from the the driver's-side rear quarter, walking up to where it was parallel parked from a distance of about two hundred feet. The car faced East, with the sun coming in from the rider's side rear quarter. The car was parked just over the crest at the side of the road so that the right side, away from me, was slightly below the near side. As soon as the remote was within range of the car, I opened the windows and sunroof.
Right when the window fully opened, I was surprised, just for a second, to see a face peering at me over the hub of the steering wheel! Within a second or so my mind resolved what I was seeing which was, of course, the tachometer. For a second, the lighting, my distance, and the markings and "idiot lights" on the tacho face, combined to present the illusion of a full-sized face, partially masked by the steering wheel. My mind interpreted the scene as if someone were lying on the hood, peering through the steering wheel.

Has anyone else had this happen? My mind resolved it too quickly for me to be really startled, but it WAS a surprise. :D
