When: July 4th Weekend

Leaving Friday (meeting up at The Acorn Inn) coming home Sunday.  We (Neal, Andria & I) will be heading out Friday morning and hitting a couple wineries on our way up. You are more than welcome to join us. 023

Where: The Acorn Inn, Nelson County

Each room will cost $55 per night / Single Occupancy and $65 per night / Double Occupancy.
We do ask that no pets be brought along on this trip as we will all be staying in The Inn.

The Acorn Inn is a bed & breakfast so breakfast is included in the price.  We will grab lunch while we're out and about on Saturday and Saturday night we can have a cookout at The Inn or grab dinner at a local restaurant. icon_mrgreen

What: We will tour local wineries & enjoy some great roads on Saturday then wander our way home on Sunday.

Here are some of the wineries that we plan on hitting (open to suggestion & discussion, of course):
Wintergreen Winery
Afton Mountain Winery
Blue Mountain Brewery We could tour the brewery, sample beers and have lunch.
Cardinal Point Winery

Also, there is a celebration at Wintergreen Resort and an Artisan Craft Fair as well.  I was thinking we could swing by and check that out too!

You will need to call Kathy & Martin at (434) 361-9357 between 9 am and 9 pm to make your reservations.  Tell them that you are one of Neal & Angela's MINI friends.  Also please let me know that you plan on attending.

Attendees:
Neal, Angela & Andria
Steve & Elaine
Roy & Lelane
Dale, Regina & Kristy

We're going to take off Friday morning and hit a winery other side of Richmond, in Gordonsville.  It's called Horton Cellars Winery.  Neal said their wine is awesome.

Everyone is more than welcome to join us if your schedule permits.  Or you can meet up with us Friday night at The Acorn.

I forgot to put the website link again for The Acorn Inn....so here it is: The Acorn Inn

Just so everyone knows, the travel time is a little over 3 hours from Suffolk and about the same from Norfolk.  So it is totally do-able on a Friday night. 023

I'll post some links to the wineries we're planning on visiting.  And feel free to post any that you'd like to visit too!

This sounds like a blast. We did the same thing with another couple a few years ago. Virginia has some very good wineries.

Steph and I could do this in August. We can hit the Virginia Wine Trail. Be better to chip in for a party bus or limo. That way nobody has to drive. Steph and I do this when we visit her sister in California. This could be a good getaway and a lot of fun.

It could be that June is better because it is not as hot. July does not work for us. That is cooper vindyard and our vacation to California.

Do you have a list of wineries you're thinking about?

Don, as fun as it sounds to have a party bus and go winery jumping, I'd much rather just take it easy and sip a little here and a little there....run the roads and have a blast....then drink a bottle or so at The Inn later that night.

We'd really like to make the trip about both driving fun roads and visiting nice wineries. 023

Here's a list of the wineries & breweries we're thinking about hitting.  Of course, the list is open to suggestion and we can fine tune it.

Wintergreen Winery
Afton Mountain Winery
Blue Mountain Brewery We could tour the brewery, sample beers and have lunch.
Cardinal Point Winery

Here is a link to Nelson County's website.  There's a lot more listed here.  So take a look and speak up if you see one that peaks you interest.  023

Steve and I plan to go on the July trip if our dog sitter is available. We can leave on Friday the 3rd. I really hope that it works out with the sitter.  038
