Hell of a novel there Dale.  023

If I wasn't still feeling the effects from drinking the night before. I probably would have enjoyed it a little more. But the Ice Cream was pretty good. And I plan on taking my wife there sometime for sure because of her love for horses. I personally think it is to touristy for what it is. But it is a nice little fishing town to visit. It's a different atmosphere of VA.

Nice write up Dale, Thanks for doing it  038  Kathy, Maggie and myself had a great time  026 026  The dinner was very nice, and even though I can't eat seafood, the steak that I had was VERY NICE !  VERY nice for a seafood place !! Kath, Maggie and myself took a boat tour on Sunday. It was fun and we saw a LOT of the Chincoteague pony's running on the beach and feeding on the marsh grass. It was Maggie's first boat ride, and she was no trouble at all. The tour company accepts dogs on the trip as long as everyone signed up agrees that having a dog along will be OK with them.
Once the people met Maggie and we assured them that she doesn't bark, and would not scare away any Chincoteague Pony's on the cruise  she was welcomed onboard. It was a little hot when the boat was running with the wind, but it was well worth doing it. We got some good pic's of the pony's with the lighthouse in the background. I'll see if Kathy can post them asap.

We had lunch at a hidden little place called Harley's. VERY NICE !  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.  After lunch we headed South.
We tried to stay off of the main road, RT.13, as much as possible, and took our time coming back to the CBBT.
We toured Exmore, Assawoman, Nassawaddox, and a few others that I'd have a hard time spelling correctly 080
Our last stop on the way home was Cape Charles. LOVELY little town !!  It reminded us of Smithfield. It's an old town, but it is alive with activity. All of the old store's in the small downtown area are open and active. There is a very nice beach area there as well with easy access and plenty of parking. Maybe a possible club event there in the future..........

Dale, I guess you missed it, but there is an icecream place a few doors down from MR. Whippy's on Maddox Blvd. that was
rockin on Sat. Evening. The line was out the door, across the parking lot, and down the sidewalk at 9pm. on Sat. night.
I've forgotten the name , but will surely look it up. They advertise all homemade icecream, and it must be VERY good
based on trhe crowd we saw waiting in line to get some of it  110

All in all a VERY good time this past weekend, and am sorry that we only had a very few members participate.

Saga Continued...
I can't speak for Don and Steph cause we never saw them again after dinner.  Dave, Maggie the magster and I planned on staying over. The Quality in was impressively clean and nice.  All amenities were excellent including a wonderful pin prickly hot shower.  Dave and I headed back to the room after dinner.  I couldn't resist another Mr Whippy for dessert through the drive-thru.  Thought I would bring a MINI split back to the room to snack on.  The dessert came in a very big drink cup filled about 6 inches taller than the cup and dripping yummy goo all over.  I ppeded and moaned about getting it all over the seats so they gave me a wad of paper toweling to go.  I couldn't get the spoon in it, it was that full.  We pulled into the hotel trying not to hit too many bumps because ice cream is melting regardless of the a/c.  Dave had to park sideways in the middle of the lot, open my car door, unbuckle my seat belt, then go open the hotel room door.  Luckily we were steps away from our front door!  I cleaned up the mess while Dave parked the car.  He could not pull into the hotel lot without people yelling from the balcony above, either "cool car" or "can I pet your dog" (seems like everyone we met had a dog named Maggie at one time in their life.  We were pretty popular.

I gave Mag some of the crab cookies I got in the dog shop and tried on her new souvenir pony bandanna.  She approved of both.  We then went for a night time walk to visit the hotel's very own pony - Lightning.  That was pretty uneventful.  Seems my dog doesn't care for those big dogs when you can't reach high enough to smell their bottom.  Its a dog thing.  The three of us slept well after our day of adventure.

Next morning off to a pony cruise.  We took a pontoon boat cruise with a handful of other tourists and saw many wild ponies in the distance wandering the island.  We learned more about the pony swim:  All horses are rounded up and swim the channel.  Then the adults are separated from the foals.  All foals are sold, there were 72 foals this year.  They keep 5-7 babies on the island each year to keep the population under control.  (the Maryland ponies get contraceptives instead of being sold).  We also learned that horseshoe crabs are harvested for medical blood research then released.  Maggie handled her boat ride just fine.  After the Dragon, this water leg thing was a breeze!

We drove all around the island, admiring the households and storefronts.  Some great Victorians there.  We might go for a bed and breakfast next time, they were all so charming.  We did a little store hopping and I got some outrageous pink and green (fushia and lime) Crock sandals before they are no longer available. (I heard Crocks was closing up shop- might be just a rumor to spur sales).  We stopped by the McDonalds parking lot where there were a few more ponies including one of the rare black and white variety.  We stopped for lunch at the Hidden Creek Deli on Maddox Ave.  Food was wonderful and Maggie got to stretch her legs.

Then we left town and traveled about every road that left Rt 13.  Lots and lots of tomatoes!  Found a winery and visited a perfect gem of a town called Cape Charles.  Then back home to unpack and order Dominos.

To sum it up....  we had a blast!!  I'll work on posting some photos a bit later.
DANG!!!  Dave was typing the same time I was on the other side of the room  Sorry
