I am in for two T-shirts!

Ditto and I'd rather do one hotel than two.

If I can swing this place, it might work great. Centrally located in the VA mountains, with plenty of room north, west and south of the Inn. I'll keep y'all informed.

Here's the Inn we're looking at for the Fall Colors Run.

http://www.highland-inn.com/

It's very nice looking and has right many good reviews at some of the trip advisor sites I've checked. Some of the motorcycle sites (good route sources too) give it good reviews as well. It's not a 4 star hotel, but are we really looking for that? I think it'll make a great base camp for the FCR! I have a great loop planned for Saturday that runs about 140 miles with an route back to the Inn and a continuation of another 80 miles back to the hotel for the more adventurous of us. Sunday, we'll make a southerly loop back to either I 64 or Rte 360/460 back to our neck of the woods.

All of their rooms have private baths, with hair dryer, coffee makers and satellite TV. Down side, they only have 19 rooms. So, if we decide on the Highland Inn, reservations will need to be made quickly. I'd like to see 19 MINI's make this run!

What do y'all think?

I'm up for it.  Just need to know what date to book.  We must book early if the rumors I hear that places are full for the leaf season is true.

Working on that as we speak. Should know something by the weekend for sure. Rates run anywhere from 79 to 99 a night. Not too bad!

Will let everyone know ASAP! 023

Yes, they allow pets.  $10.00 additional per night.

Well, if there is no objections I'll get the Highland Inn to save us a block of rooms. Here's their website: http://www.highland-inn.com/

Any idea ow many rooms I should get them to hold. Bear in mind, they only have 19 rooms total. They do have a sister motel about 25 miles away.

This year will be different than years before, in that we aren't changing locations for lodging. I figure it'll take less time out of our weekend if we don't have to pack and un pack any more than we have too. Plus, it gives us more leisure time for breakfast and such. Monterey looks to be a pretty sleepy little town, so we should make a pretty big impression on them.

I plan on making a run up to the area within the nest few weeks, just to do a scouting of the area and the Inn. I "assume" we'd be looking for some "spirited" roads to drive, rather than just scenic.

Any input would be appreciated.

Dale,

I just came thru the area Sunday.  250 west of Staunton has about 7 spirited mt passes that are very scenic as well.  Two national forests are on that route all a senica falls

Kathy and I are in for this one, and have made our room reservations already.   038  Anyone thinking about bringing along a pet, I suggest you call the Inn directly v/s booking online in order to be sure they are aware that you intend to bring along a pet. They do have "pet rules" posted on their web site, and there is an extra $10.00 per day charge for pets.
A co-worker of mine told me today that Rt. 250 heading West from the Monterey area heading towards West Virginia is a very good candidate for any type of "Spirited" run that we might like to take, as Kurt has noted. I have a neighbor that has some property in the Amhurst area that is also a motorcycle enthusiast and knows the best roads to run in that area.  I will ask him for some recomendations and post what he comes up with ASAP.
