I am trying to decide between painting dolphins on my doors or going with decals.  I have spoken with Any & All Graphics on Dam Neck Rd. and am not sure about the decals.

What is ya'lls opinion?  I don't want to mess up my new baby!!  But definitely want my dolphins!!

And, who do ya'll recommend for either?  If I go with custom paint I would prefer air brushing.  For decals, I'm undecided on self install (not sure I trust myself to not mess it up).

Thank in advance!!

If youd like to have it as individual as possible, might I suggest you see John Wooten at his airbrush shop on Denbigh Blvd. This guy does some of the finest work I've ever seen, he's reasonable, and if you tell him I sent you, I could end up doing the clearcoat and polishing as well. 757-886-8991

If on the other hand, you prefer some decal that any Joe Blow can purchase at just about any decal peddler in town, well, what can I say?

Is the fact that I prefer airbrush work over decals that obvious?

Whatever way you go, airbrushing isn't low end by any means.

I'll back John up on the airbrushing. It looks far and away better than decals. Gives the car a whole new dimension. Very upscale. However, if you ever plan on selling it, you can always remove the decals and probably be okay. With the airbrush, it's pretty permanent. And come selling time, you'll have to find someone that likes MINI's AND Dolphins as much as you! Either way, you should have a very unique MINI.

John and Dale are right about the airbrushing.  I went with decals for the roof of my Clubman. I have Pepe Le Pew that was done by Steve @Custom Graphics in Va Beach. He's done alot of HR MINI's.

Thank you all for the input/feedback!!

I'm not overly concerned about resale value as the last few vehicles we have had we have kept until they either died or were killed (DH is good at that!)  So that isn't really an issue. Cost can be a deterrent, to some extent.  Just depends on HOW costly it gets, and I'm sure a lot of that will depend on exactly what I want done.

I know it can always be a work in progress also.  Doors now, maybe the bonnet later.

Love Pepe!!  That looks awesome.

I've seen mention of Steve @Custom Graphics here on prior posts (I've been reading back), but couldn't find any real contact information for him.  There was mention, at one point, of a website, however I got an error when I tried to access it.  I'm definitely not going to rush on this and do my homework/shopping.  I'm a veritable newbie at this customizing thing!

Steve from Custom Graphics can be reached at 757-581-9547

I plan to keep my current MINI for a long time to come, but I may grow bored with the current custom decals.  I would have no issue using Steve for a new design should I decide to make a change. I believe I am correct that you can visit with him and discuss what you want in general terms and he can give you a quote.  Then he will take the time necessary to develop exactly what you had in mind.

I have to agree with painting.  When I had my Mini repainted in 2007, I did not put the stripes back on, as I could not make up my mind what I wanted to do.  I never did.  However, if I had put them back on, they would have definitely been painted on.

It won't happen now, anyway.  I had our buddy Maaco Dale paint my trim and new hood scoop.  The two-tone look is more appealing to me.

I agree with going with Vinyl. Cheaper...and can always be changed or replaced....
