Seriously... This was a day from hell from start to finish!    It started shortly after midnight with me not being able to fall asleep.  I finally did fall asleep somewhere around 2am.  I woke up at my usual 5:15 and took Anubis out for a walk and fed him.  Work was a tee-total SOB and I think I'm either going to get fired or get some form of disciplinary action come Monday morning.   icon_rolleyes  This came near the end of a VERY busy/hectic day.  Somehow I finished the day off without offending anyone or causing bodily harm.  That's a good thing, right?

Well, I arrived at home and the truck was gone meaning that my son was at work.  As I'm trying to get the key in the door, I hear Anubis on the other side scratching at it.  My first thought was, "where the hell is the truck?".  I thought that my son was home and had Anubis out romping around the house.  I opened the front door to total frigging bedlam!  My son was at work. Anubis had pulled a Houdini and got out of his crate.  He had a wonderful day, to him...  The little turd got on the dining room table, ate half of a Costco sized bag of croutons and knocked over a glass of water that someone had left on the table.  He ate so damned much that he must have gained a pound!  He looked like a little football!  He chewed up some stuff, nothing important but he relieved himself several times.  As I walked around surveying the damage, I found one of his piles the hard way.  My son's bedroom door had swung partially closed and was over it.  I pushed the door open while looking in the room and stepped square in it then took two steps into his room before I realized what I had done.

I spent several HOURS cleaning up the mess, fixing Newbie's crate to be escape-proof and took my little magical escaping hurricane Newbie for a walk.  My son came home shortly after and we went to Costco, as planned, to get groceries.   I came home to Bedlam, part f-ing TWO!

Now, I fixed Newbie's wire crate with zip ties, bent the loops to be tighter etc AND clipped a leash type clip to the lock mechanism for the door.  I know damned good and well that I clipped it shut AND that it was a PITA to get that damn clip on there.  When we got home Newbie was out, again, and his crate was standing open with the clip thing on the floor in front of the door!  This time he thankfully didn't relieve himself anywhere but he did manage to get a Costco sized box of cereal from the counter and eat half of that!  Newbie's Brunch today was croutons and his dinner was Honey Bunches of Oats!  icon_evil  I want to frigging scream!   My son agreed to take Newbie for a walk while I try to calm down but now Newbie's crate has a Caterpillar (NOT kidding!) padlock on the damn door.   Yes, the same Caterpillar padlock that they put on the fuel caps on backhoes!  Let's see the little booger get that one off of there!

Sorry, I had to vent.  I can't even look at Newbie at the moment.  I love him to death but at the moment, I want to take him back to the SPCA...

Trying isn't quite the word for it!  093  Guess what half a bag of croutons and God only knows how much Honey Bunches of Oats causes in a Min-Pin....   Figured it out?  Good. Now guess what I woke up to this morning at 0445.  icon_rolleyes

There's a silver lining to each and every story.  045  At least you only woke up to it.  I spent the night in the living room on the sofa holding my little sweet heart.  We made several trips outside throughout the night.  Oh, and while walking around the darker than dark backyard with her there was our friendly owl somewhere around having himself a  :103:hoot-hoot 103 of a noisy party.  She's a bit better so far today, but it took a lot out of her.  We ran her up to the 24 hour ER vet last night.  There was a three to four hour wait just to be seen. icon_cry I figured she'd be more comfortable here at home than in a waiting room full of other dogs looking  119 at her as if she were an over sized dinner 110 item.  I knew if she took a turn for the worst I could run her up there in the middle of the night to early morning and hopefully miss the crowd.  I haven't had to make a return trip thus far.  I'm still crossing my fingers and toes.  I think I've actually slept maybe eight hours in the last 48.  icon_frown

They are four legged bundles of fun.  Maggie has the run of the house (only after learning trash can emptying and pantry raiding were taboo).  We always kept a fishbowl full of assorted wrapped chocolates on a living room end table.  Has always been there and she never touched it... Until one day.  Apparently those little foil wrapped chocolate easter eggs and mini Reeses cups were too much for her.  The jar was empty when I came home and the floor was covered in chocolate vomit.  After I cleaned that up,  I sat down to rest on the sofa and found she ducked her head down between the cushions, over the top and under the pillows of the big L-shaped sectional sofa.  I wasn't too concerned about taking her to the vet since there was so much vomit, I was pretty darn sure it was all out of her system.  Then I went upstairs... you get the idea.

Good thing we love em!

Yea Jeff, I think we left out all that fun in the other thread about getting a dog. Sorry icon_frown

I have a funny story as well. Our dog is a Shiba Inu. Think of a red fox with a curled up tail. One of my employees had two and said they are escape artists. He was right. And they're smart too. I came home one day and there's half a glass of sprite in the middle of the floor. I just figured one of the kids left it there or something. A week or two later, same thing with a glass of coke. Right in the middle of the floor. So one day I come home from work and just happened to look through the window. I see the dog on the dinning room table, glass in mouth jumping down into the floor with the glass. She doesn't spill a drop and proceeds to drink out of the glass, on the floor. It was the funniest thing I ever saw. But if she's so smart, why not just drink it ON the table?

Yeah, it's Houdini's ghost letting him out.   icon_eek  Fortunately for me, Houdini's ghost hasn't mastered operating a padlock!  icon_biggrin

I'm thrilled to say that not a single thing was going on while I was at work.  Anubis was safely locked in his crate with an industrial strength PADLOCK!  Strange though, it says, "CAT" on the Padlock.  How would you lock up a cat?  017  I mean, they'd pull their legs right out of that lock and it's too small for the neck of most of the cats that I've seen...
